Front end protection.
Front end protection.
OK so I have to take a couple of 3 and 4 hour highway trips in the next few weeks (Legoland for my little girls B-day and St. Pete beach for the company X-Mas party) and I really don't want to add anymore paint chips to my paint. Can I get a removable bra for like 50 bucks? Or should I resort to a 6 dollar roll of blue painters tape?
99MaximaSEL was selling a bra in your price range back in August. Can't tell, but maybe it's still available:http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...a-new-box.html
Hmmm... i know that the front end bra's were designed to fit factory front ends quite snugly, so I would lean towards it not fitting properly.
I know how you feel about getting more road rash on the front end of your car. My car has it's fair share of it. If you can't find something that will work for you, my recommendation would be to keep your distance as much as possible from the big trucks that kick up road debris.

That's not a bad idea. It would certainly look better than having the front of the car covered in blue painter's tape.
Cool, I'll have to check into that later. My car is pearl white, and I had thought about painting my stock 17's white to match the car. Since plasti dip is easlily peeled off, I won't have to worry about spending too much money.
Plasti dip is some seriously awesome stuff. I used it on my door handles to black out the ugly chrome that comes with the GLE trim. Super easy to apply, hardly requires any prep work.
The 3m clear shield/bra is awesome. I've used it on my motorcycle and it works great. The application is a PITA sort of like window tint....and be very mindful when waxing but otherwise it's a fantastic product.
If i had to do it i would try the clear spray on plasti dip maby 2 or 3 coats of it.the only experience i have with plasti dip is coating tools and i have used the clear on some prototype boards to waterproof them.
We would have a contractor come in and install those clear shield bra's at the dealership I used to work at. They don't like doing cars unless the paint is in really good shape. I had asked about having my bumper cover, the front of the hood, and the mirrors done, but he didn't recommend that I have it done, stating it wouldn't stick well, etc. etc... Depending on where you have it done, it can be expensive too, around 200-300 a car, depending on the difficulty of the cuts, forming around corners, and so on.
I have used Plasti dip to paint my front splitters on my BMW. I don't think I want to spray the entire front of my car with it. I can imagine weeks after I tried taking it all off still seeing small specks caught in all the cracks and what not.
Not trying to steal your thread here OP, just had a quick question regarding the Plast-dip. How long can it be left on before causing any damage or being stuck on for good? Seems like it be a relatively inexpensive way to apply a black overlay to the room to see if I like the look or not. Thanks in advance
