Gutted Pre-cats Dyno run

Yes I know, its another gutted pre-cats thread, but this one has pictures of squiggly lines on a paper with some numbers all over it.

The car made
226.13whp and 227.50tq on a 2nd gear pull
234.17whp and 246.31tq on a 3rd gear pull

Power Mod list is as follows
Gutted Pre-cats / Warpspeed y-pipe + test pipe / Tsudo 2.5inch mid-pipe / Megan M-DT muffler / Berk intake with Apexi Filter / BOP plate / 2* timing advance

What she sounds like

The 2nd gear pull

Did you do any dyno runs before the pre-cats were gutted?

Well I wouldn't go to say that the thread is useless. However, it would have been nice to know what the gains of the gutted cats would have been.

Lmao, thanks for not bashing
Yea I should've taken it to the dyno before doing it, but ended up gutting the cats without even planning on doing it lmfao

You should get NWP's complete spacer kit. Those will give you a nice bump in horsepower too.

Only in the sense that it doesn't show a quantitative analysis on gutting the pre-cats. Other than that, you had fun, right?

Exactly. You'd probably get near 240 hp after installing intake spacers. But I think to get near 250, you'd need to actively tune the car, install headers, a 3" exhaust, etc. And there are other things you can do that are power-mods, but don't necessarily manifest as HP. The Torque-Link, for example.

Either way, I bet you're happy for the moment. Enjoy it.

OAN... Sheer Silver SE, eh? Looks familiar.

Yea I did have fun, and I'm happy with where its at right now
I will probably be able to stop myself from buying more mods for about a month or so, and then I might have a NWP shopping spree and do a 3 inch cat-back

hahaha, sadly its no where near as clean as yours is

Definitely worth getting though. Gain quite a bit of the mid-range power that us autos need after the install of the bop. Just took my bop off this week and man does the car have some low end power again.

You post a lot of laughing there, Broolkyn. The car performs well on the dyno, but I couldn't live with the sound of that exhaust. Sorry.

I noticed that too. It must be the forum equivalent for people who add "ya-know" to everything said aloud.

And now that he sees it, I'm sure he'll tone it down, you know?

So... much... rasp. If you make any other changes to your exhaust, just go with a 3", you won't be disappointed.

The numbers look good, but do keep in mind that numbers will change from dyno to dyno (or even operator to operator), so where you get 234/246 here you might get 195/210 (or 250/260) somewhere else. The best use of a dyno is to test changes and tune in a controlled environment.

........
I love the exhaust note and the way people's heads turn when I start the car, nobody expects it from a maxima
Not to mention, the drone does wonders when you got a girl in your car that won't stop talking

Why is everyone so serious?
I drive an auto maxima, I laugh to cover up the disappointment

Thats the only other thing I have left to the exhaust at this point, besides getting real headers.

Yea I know that, but for now I'm just gonna believe these numbers, but I'm 100% sure within 2 months I'm gonna be back on a dyno with spacers and a 3 inch exhaust getting the car tuned SMFH

It's not about believing or not believing. I was just trying to make the point that numbers from a dyno are only good for a ballpark figure and best used for comparisons/tuning unless you're doing a dyno shootout at an event or something.

When you add those mods, make sure to go back to the same dyno and tell them you're wanting to compare to previous runs there... Then you can use those dyno numbers for something worthwhile

Nice numbers!

If you get a 3" cat back, Spacers and and UD pulley you will have significant gains. If you are getting a tune go with LRMAF and 3.5" intake with the 6" Vstack and AEM filter. The 3" catback will sound ALOT better and whole lot sexier!

Nothing is wrong with an "AUTO" Maxima.

PS: If you get a JERK cop they will pull you over for that WHITE LED in the rear sidemarker....just fair warning. Its supposed to be RED. I learned from experience.

Will putting on Cattman headers make the exhaust that raspy?

With spacers you should "feel" the gain a lot more everyday than a mod that puts power at the top. Either that or headers, but it seems there are no OBX headers available at this time and maybe never will be. So the price difference between Cattman headers and spacers is huge. And a cattman exhaust won't make it raspy at all. I've got a BRM exhaust with a smaller resonator and muffler and it doesn't rasp at all.

Well, I've got the headers & FastCat already. The VQ30DE-K doesn't benefit much from spacers, since it's got the (plastic) 00VI IM. I'm wondering how my SRS exhaust will sound when the Cattmans are installed.

Thanks, I would be much happier if it was 6-speed though

Another bulls-eye Rochester! It's SO representative of all the "self appointed authorities" who know nothing aside from their own opinion. They ALWAYS prove the adage "It's better to keep one's mouth shut and be thought the fool. Than to open it and remove all doubt."

I didn't imply that it was directed at anyone. It's stereotypically funny nonetheless. BTW; I wouldn't consider it self-deprecating humor at all. Since your opinions are always substantiated by knowledge of the subject matter.
