New to me 02 GLE...Have a question

Just purchased a 02 gle from a local dealer. Car runs great but needs some body work which I will tackle after the winter.

Anyway something strange happens when I step on the gas to merge or pass a slower driver.

after about a sec or 2 the car shoots forward like a bat out of hell. At the same time I hear a sucking noise like the engine is pulling in air. I sounds really cool but I can't fine any aftermarket parts.

I did take it to my buddy and we put it up on the lift. There is a shiny newly welded bit like right after the header. Does anyone know what it could be?
Sorry i completely didn't think of taking a pic while I was under the car.

First guess would be an O2 sensor bung welded on, or EGR tube. Both would have either a wire or pipe going into them.

Pics or better description are certainly needed. Congrats on the new purchase!

P.S. Whatever is on the exhaust won't have to do with a 'sucking' noise, that would be a hissing noise (air expelling).

Seems to me you have either an intake leak or someone has removed stock baffles/noise suppressors. Have you checked the air filter to make sure it's in good shape and seated properly?

Very interesting.
No bro...no wires or pipes going to it.

How can I check for an intake leak? And I'm going to check the air filter now.
