That's really low mileage. Are you considering selling it?

Yes, I'm kind of just seeing what I could get if I do decide to, but I'm also looking to trade for a v8 trans am/camaro/mustang to get ready for the Spring

I doubt $1000 is as much as you can get with that car. My father was thinking of selling his '00 model with a few kinks and 80k+ miles, and people were taking his $4000 obo seriously... Id say you can expect anywhere between $4000-7000, the upper ones being optimistic at best.

Don't trade it, you won't get squat for it. You're better off selling it yourself. If you do sell it here on this forum, you'll have to post it in the appropriate classified section with your location, and good pictures.

From your brief description of the car, and taking your word for it's condition and mileage, I would guess it to be in the 7-8 thousand range.

if I were you I would hold firm at $8500 or even $9000... think about it.... what other car can you buy for $8500-$9000 that has 34,000 original miles... that is fully loaded, looks slick, has plenty of power to spare on the highway, and so on and so on... and I am sure that there are buyers who can realize that and actually hunt for cars like yours...

here is a very real example...

Great choices but those are gas guzzling cars. I hope you don't do too much driving. They produce a lot of power but gas will be way more.

I wish I could afford anyone of them.

The fact that it's AT takes from the value IMO, I'd say about 5-6k..

Oh Hai Gaiz! Can I haz first post?............I will proceed with tl;dr

Had a 350Z. Sold it.
Need cheap used car.
Many weeks later after exhaustive search for Maxima of my liking(and budget).
I find 02 SE 6 speed in very nice condition overall.(pick up car tomorrow, pics coming)
This is VERY compressed version.(obviously)

In my search I did find conclusive evidence that a car is worth as much as somebody is willing to pay........but all your interwebz tools are good guides. $8-9k for yours sounds about right IMHO.

In general, I don't feel like the used car pricing guides (edmunds, kbb, NADA, etc.) give enough added value for low mileage. I think Kbb seems to value low mileage the most of those sites. I bought my 2002 Maxima last July with about 19k miles on it, and remember thinking at the time that the low mileage meant alot more to me personally than the difference that the book value was showing on some sites.

If I were you, I would pull the values and set my asking price at the private party value, maybe somewhere between private party and retail. In my experience, if you find the right buyer, you can get above the private party book value for excellent condition low mileage cars.

In the case of your car, I got a Private party value of $7866 on kbb.com assuming their default mileage of 108k. Changing to 34k miles raised the private party value to $11216, that is $3350 for mileage. So I'd ask in the ballpark of $11250 and see what you find. There just aren't very many cars to choose from with that low mileage.

One thing that you might find though is that some people looking for this type car will look negatively on modifications. So the aftermarket exhaust could be a negative in some people's eyes, and will limit your buying population more to the Maxima enthusiast crowd.

In September, the insurance adjuster checked mine out, had 128k miles on it, 2000 fully loaded, excellent interior condition, and he valued it at 6,000 for insurance purposes, but said if I was trying to sell it, I could get 7,000 easy.

I can't see someone paying 7k for a 5th gen with that many miles. It would take a while to move a 5.5gen for that.
OP I would say about 8 - 9k but you have to remember the car is 8-9 years old even with the low mileage.

Someone once told me the worst thing you can do to an engine is NOT USE IT. Just because miles are low does not mean that everything is in mint shape.

This can be true, especially if someone drives the car like a complete grandma the entire time it's accumulated those low miles...it's really based on a lot of different factors just like any other car with "expected" miles on it.

Me personally, you could have a mint condition 6 speed 02/03 maxima with 10 miles on it that was stored in a climate controlled garage since 02/03 and I still would not pay more than $7-8k for it.

Definitely worth more than 5k.

I traded in my stock base 2002 SE (auto, 17", HID, spoiler, cassette 1cd, cloth interior) for my 09 SV sport/tech and dealer gave me 1500 bucks trade-in. I'm not sure what a private party sale woukd've paid...3k?

It had 205,000 mi. and I had it for 10years. I paid $22k for it in 2002. Got my money's worth and no major repairs. I got better mpg than current 09 max. Avg. 26mpg mixed.

Before that I had a fully loaded 1992 SE (Bose, leather, outside heated mirrors etc). I traded that in for my 2002 SE. Dealer gave me $2000 for trade-in. It had 183,000mi. This model was also a lemon. Had transmission issues etc.

When I bought mine last year the used car market was STRONG, I paid close to $8k OTD for a '02 Maxima, 1 owner, 57k miles, and no accidents.

Oh, and this was from an auction. I saw 5th gen Maximas with similar mileage go for $7k, $8k before taxes/fees. Haven't checked auction prices lately but maybe you should, you can always sell yourself there for a fee.

I picked up my '01 GLE last year with 63k miles on it for $7k. While it wasn't a steal the condition of the car and maintanence records provided made it worth the price. For a 5.5 with that low of mileage I would put it at $9k obo if you're not a big rush. Someone will recognize the value of the car and pick it up in good time.

IMHO - an '03 with 34k on it should be getting atleast 10k. Regardless if its going on 10 years old. The condition of the car and the mileage of it speaks for itself.

I flipped a 2000 last summer that had 160k on the body with an engine replaced with 50k. I sold the car for 5k. On top of that it was the most unattractive color combo - beige leather interior and gold exterior.

My opinion on this matter is that if you find someone who is a nissan lover and knows what they are looking for, ie. a low mileage maxima, you can get more then what others are suggesting this car is worth. 10k >

I am actually in the same boat and I've been thinking about selling my loaded '03 with 81k. Reading what some of you said made me want to puke and possibly reconsider selling mine.
