Internet? In MY Maxima?
Internet? In MY Maxima?

Finished installing the touchscreen portion! All I have to say is that for anyone who plans on doing similar with the 700idt monitor, watch out, you will have to file down the plastic dash cover bit as it is slightly narrower than the monitor. Other than that it went surprisingly smooth.
You'd understand if you lived in the heat. Those center vents make a HUGE difference.
Driving around in sweat-soaked clothing worth extra cool points? Maybe for some. Not everyone.
I'll use my phone for interwebz, thank you very much.On the plus side, you won't have to worry about the screen getting hot with the ac on.
its pretty cool to have internet in a 5th gen. Is that a seperate unit from your jvc headunit? ive never been to vegas but it is pretty much a desert so I wouldnt want my vents blocked either. maybe another unit that could serve your internet needs as well as play cds, ipod, radio, etc etc. and not block the vents. Just my opinion though
Haha not gonna have the monitor out while driving, it has a push retraction thing. Mainly the computer is for hosting itunes and expanding my on demand music selection.
The monitor is separate from the JVC. Basically it's a three piece deal. The monitor runs to the computer, the computer runs to the stereo.
I still have to figure out where I am actually going to put the computer. You guys are right about it potentially generating extra heat but the thing about Vegas is we are so far past that point where a core 2 duo mobile processor and 2.5 in hard drive are going to put off enough heat to noticeably contribute.
I am still going to have to turn the car on and wait 10 minutes until I can actually get into it and leave wherever I am

What type of service are you using for network just out of curiousity? I can definitely understand this reasoning for the music demand...I have the ipod car kit that connects to the aux on the factory bose. just trying to come up with a unique way to mount my ipod instead of just sitting it in the cup holder lol.
Nice, def would prefer that, but that would also require more investment on other stuff, maybe down the road.
Hard drive is a 1.5TB 2.5in. Would love to go SSD but that is expensive, I got one and that goes on my gaming rig. Everything on the drive is copied from my main computer anyway so no risk of data loss.
Don't have any permanent internet solution yet, only tethering my cell but that is *****.

Nice. What other components you have with that? I mean as far as how does the computer play to the car audio. Main reason I went with the setup I did was for cost effectiveness and ease of implementation.
Thanks. It's a full PC setup, so no headunit and strictly sound card. It integrated with my factory Bose and was actually cheaper in the end than buying a DDin for me. I built it on a budget, and pieced it together over a few months. Once I got the logistics down of how to wire it, it was fairly simple.
Hibernation will usually fix that, and allow a quick startup. Because of my recent sound card, I've had to do normal shut downs/start ups which does become slower, but I haven't spent much time working on fixing it.
