Picked up an 04 3.5SE.

Today, i picked up a 2004 3.5SE for an unbelievable price of $3800 out the door. It's got 130k miles. Leather, heated seats/steering/bose and all that. Already trolling the 6th gen classified LOL. Just got excited and letting you all know.

Well, posted in 5th gen section because, i have been here a while. Still gonna keep my 01 Se as a daily driver at least through the winter. Not yet stepped into the 6th gen section yet.
Nothing wrong with it, except it's bone stock and smells like a granny. just have a little crack at the bottom of front bumper, Probably cover it up with a lip or something.

That is a great price. Did you get it from a private seller?

That seems too little cash for that car. If all is well with it, you got one hell of a deal!

No. actually my buddy works for dealer, It was a trade in they were going to wholesale. But I've bugging him so he pulled some strings for me. KBB value for good condition is about $6200. So i got plenty room for mods

Congrats on the new purchase, definitely a good price. Now not to be the bearer of bad news, save some cash for Valve Body/tranny replacement. The 04-06 have some flakey trannys and are notorious

None the less nice ride, very comfy

CVT was the 6.5 gen, Tuner. Your 6-gen noobnish is showing.

What are you talking about? For many years, a nicely equipped Altima SE 3.5 cost just about as much as an entry model Maxima.

Maybe you added an extra zero? Or maybe you're talking about the Chilean Peso? But today's conversion is about 500:1... so IDK what you're thinking really.

U.S. vs. Canadian market in that time period was HUGE difference. Although I did make that number up.

It was a pretty ridiculous difference though up here. Either way they really blew it with the 6th gen IMO. Just my .02

The 6thgens maxima's definitely dropped drastically. At that price you just have to keep in mind it might cost you.But at the price you can't go wrong. I wish i'd wait a few more years.I'd pocket 9K

I hear you all on the transmission problem on 6th gens. But i figure at the price I paid, i can't really lose much. I drove it all over town today, tranny shift smooth and lot of power. Anyway, gotta get the modding begin!

Dude you got a great deal. An engine alone will cost you almost as much you paid for the entire car. Just keep some money for rainy days and you'll be good.

What transmission problems? The 6.0 gen 6MT was a solid redesign of the weaker 5.5 gen 6MT.

Wait... did you buy a AT car?

Who cares if you drive an ugly car? You sit IN it, so you don't have to look at it. It has similar lines to the 350Z, which is beautiful, so when you look at a 6th gen from the right angle, it's not so bad.

But you can disregard my post in your thread, TM3K.

@Rochester: Oh, yeah! I completely forgot about my 5.5 gen's reluctance to go into gear, especially 3rd. The extra synchros on the 6th gen 6MT make themselves known each time I row through a gear. Buttery smooth and delightful. =D I can hardly wait to drain it and refill it with Redline MT-85. Of course, it's not as easy as on the 5.5gen, but it's the price you pay for a hardier transmission, I s'pose.

You sold and moved into an '05 6MT? When did that happen? I must have missed that somewhere.

For me, the 6th gen falls into the category of cars I can appreciate, but don't want to own. There's good company there, so don't think it's a slam.

Sounds like he may have a 6th gen tranny in his 5th? Just guessing.

To the OP, you made the right choice, I don't think any of us would have turned down that price, they're good cars still, I just don't like the way Nissan went with them.

With a little work they can look very, very nice though.

What? No, don't let my SUPER AWESOME signature picture confuse you. That car had an Acura RDX smash into the passenger-side wheel hard enough to knock it into the transmission in early June of this year. Bye, bye, lil' guy. :'(

So after a three-week marathon search of DESPERATE proportions (I looked at an Acura CL with the 5-speed X.x) to find anything with a stick, I was either going to buy a '99 Maxima SE-L with ~250K miles and a possible bad transmission for $2.5K or this fully-loaded '05 (2+2 seating, etc., etc.) with a clutch pedal and 95K miles for $10.5K. I chose the '05.

I'm just not a big fan of the 6th gen part of these forums, so why waste my time reading and posting in there? *shrug*

@Rochester: I didn't think it had 350z lines until multiple members of my family pointed it out. From certain angles of the front quarter panels, it definitely has the same line as the Z. It helps that the headlights are nearly the same, I think.

Amazing car at an amazing price. Wish I would have come across a deal like that. I like the looks of the 6 gen a lot more than my 5th. Then there's the extra power n gear. I'm jealous :gap:
