stock flywheel on boosted 03

I just finished installing and boosting my max. The issue I'm having is that about 5k the clutch is slipping. Out was replaced with a stock clutch @ 85k and I was planning on upgrading the clutch soon anyway. My question is should I upgrade the flywheel our ledge the dual mass unit in? Could the flywheel be the reason it's not hooking up under boost? Need help asap

I would just order a H/D clutch and aluminum flywheel and call it a day but the slipping could be either one or a combination of both. Just did mine last week due to slippage and clutch and flywheel were both smoked.

A heavy duty clutch to a resurfaced factory flywheel should suffice for MOST applications, but boost, ehh, spend the 500 and get the fidanza flywheel, helps u rev a tad faster too! Hope that helps.

Dual mass flywheels were first used in diesel trucks before they began to place them in passenger vehicles. The fact that it is dual mass is not the reason you're having slipping issues. I would even say the dm>>>>>fidanza for boosted vehicles.

You've probably got one of a few possibilities happening here(each one can be humbling):
1) You tried to do a budget repair and didn't replace or resurface the flywheel.
2) You did have the flywheel resurfaced but it was beyond tolerances, had horrible heat damage, or was performed incorrectly.
3) The driver of the vehicle does not drive a manual transmission correctly(that's usually the hardest pill for any car enthusiast to swallow).
4) A correct break-in period was not attained after clutch installation.
5) et al

The first thing you want to do is try to discover the 'why' (I don't think you can blame the boost) and address it. I would say replace the flywheel with OEM when you upgrade your clutch.

And DO NOT get a fiddy alum flywheel for heavy power apps, you get the 350z billet steel one, and move your CPS sensor accordingly....

Woops heavy is relative.

When I say heavy I mean like in the 500whp range.

350whp is nothing really, even though most people still goto the billet steel for other reasons when they're making some power (Mainly potential energy to help launches)

I made an edit to my post

Yeah 350whp is like what 10lbs of boost?? Maybe less? Easy goal to attain via FI.

Hang around my350z, those guys are nuts!! or the 6speedonline forums, where money is no object for speed.

uncle joe got 375whp with like 7.5 PSI......then 1swtmax gets like 409whp with like 10 PSI I believe.....I'm a member of those forums....I just watch and slobber because those guys dont care how much money they spend. Cant wait until I get my 370z and turbo it! The new HR engines are much stronger significantly thicker rods, better bottom end, etc. Actually read an article where they took that new VQ37VHR engine apart and they said the pistons and rods were actually forged! I seen lots of 370z twin turbos with 450-550whp on 6-10 PSI STOCK BLOCKS!

I was being generous w/ 10psi, you can certainly do it with like 7psi, turbo sizing and other factors come into play... We're way off topic meow
