Another fit, form, and function of 00-03 Ebay Projector style Headlights

I've never bought or installed these in 00-01 Maxima. I'm not concern about the light output since it will be gutted out for retrofit anyway. I'm not concern about the internal part's built quality either since It will also be gutted out and replaced with custom brackets. The only thing that I do care is the fitment to our 5th gen 00-01 front bumper.

These are what I'm thinking about:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-03-Maxima...item2a15c907c6
http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-03-NISSAN...item4cfcc48977
http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-01-NISSAN...item256a7cdb13
http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-01-Nissan...item4ab2000965
http://www.ebay.com/itm/00-01-NISSAN...item41606c3d50

Did you guys have any experience with mounting issue, gaps, and how they look in the car with any of those headlights above?
Thanks

When I had it on my original 5th gen bumper, it had a little gap on the bottom. I'm using a different bodykit now, you can check my cardomain.

Had them on my car waaaay back, they're definitely bigger than the 00-01's but the fitment seemed okay (at least to me).

I'll post pics in a moment

EDIT: thought I had more pictures on the host site (will post more later, in the meantime, I've still got a couple in my albums)

They were more snug than the 00-01's but IMO they fill the gaps more completely. There's a member here (forgot his name) that retroed a set of projectors in the reflector-style ebay halos.

I honestly don't remember. When I got them I just went on ebay and saw the ones that had the best deal. If I were to take a guess I'd say Eagle Eyes (when I get off work I can always take a quick glance though).

EDIT: the last time I had them on was this past summer when I was getting my retro reworked and I kind of miss the 'fuller' look of them. But everything else about them pales (but you as a retrofitter already know that lol)

Thanks for the word of encouragement. I'm learning new things everyday and have been enjoying this retrofitting hobby so far.

Ive seen very many as well and the fitment is never perfect. It isn't terrible either. The one thing I would check when you get them is that the seals are good from the housing to the lense. A lot use cheap adhesive which comes apart and leaves holes which let in moisture which gives you condensation on the inside. I resealed mine as soon as I got them to make sure.

Thanks gents...I think

MSU, to get the 'colored' projector lens effect you said you painted the cut-off shield? I've seen it done w/ LEDs but the one you said you painted (the ones currently for sale in the classifieds) looked pretty good (and is a simpler setup)

I've seen the ones with LED, but IMO it's a little too much and it can attract unwanted attention if you know what I mean.

I painted the back of the shield (the surface facing the lens) with high temp engine enamel. The more glossy the better. A curved shield is even better since it will reflect the lights better. Think of it like colored projector bowl, the more curves to reflect the lights, the more obvious the color is. A much better approach is to build a curve second shield just below the high beam line in addition to the painted cut off shield. This second shield will hid the relfection of the selenoid and provides more surface for the color to reflects off the lens. I did this in the FX-R built, but since the paint isn't that much glossy, the "frosted" eye is only noticable at certain angle.

Yeah I think it looks good painted. The subtlety is a nice 'stealthy' effect.

Recently bought a pair of these..

So, it said that this is for 00-01 but when I tried to install them, the bottom clip didn't mate to the plastic clip on the car. So, did a little searching here and found that I need to relace it with 02-03. Apparently this plastic clip is designed to installed one way since I have a tough time to get them out. There are 2 plastic tabs on the bottom that secure the clip to the metal bracket, but it's tough to get this little booger out. How did you guys do it? Is there any special tool or method that I didn't know about.

I gotta update the info about the clip: My first pair of ebay halos fit inside the clip, but the 'newer' pair ('10) rested on top of the clip. I didn't bother playing w/ it b/c the lights were physically larger than the oem's and fit snugly to the body.

EDIT: I can check it out for you Monday (I gotta pull my proj's out anyway).

Do you intend to change the CCFO halo's too? I know those aftermarket rings are powered by a single LED bulb and the pic makes it look bright. It's actually not
