Finally got me!
Finally got me!
So tonight I finally got pulled over for my blue plate lights and the top didn't like my headlights either (8000k). I got 10 days etc etc.... What bulbs should I go with? I'm lookin' at crystal white 6000k's. And some LEDs for my plate lights. I love the cutoff on the ground it makes!
Once again, I"ll share my insider knowledge. 5000k doesn't exist in the aftermarket. They are re-badged 4300 or 6000k bulbs.
So decide if you want 4300 or 6000k and get one, getting "5000k" will leave you gambling on which one you're going to get. But rest assured it won't be 5000k.
If you want my opinion, get 4300. Crisp white light, classy, no glare, and puts the most light on the road.

Thank me later.
5000k will be in the aftermarket soon, but a jump of 700k is not worth the R&D and added cost, expecially considering 97% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a true 4300 and a true 5000 of the same make.
You're talking projectors also, which is about the only location that 5000k will ever exist in true form, I doubt anyone will bother making a D2R 5000k
They do exist, never said they didn't exist. Said the aftermarket squad doesn't make them yet they just re-lable 4300 and 6000k's. 5000k will be in the aftermarket soon, but a jump of 700k is not worth the R&D and added cost, expecially considering 97% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a true 4300 and a true 5000 of the same make. For D2R, look into the Philips 85126CM's or the Osram 66240CBI's. The CM's are more like 4800K so they're not as pure white as the CBI's and they're also not as bright but they're cheaper IIRC.
You can definitely tell the difference between 4300K and 5000K..
Probably not, but I really have no idea.
My thinking is that at night it looks like OEM incandescent bulbs, but really dim ones, you know? At least, on a subconscious level. It's nothing that would catch a cop's eye. But I suppose if the cop were driving directly behind me for a while, he might think twice.
But purple...
Might as well have a blinking neon sign on your roof.

no theyre ebay lights. IMO in person they look like 6k's w a hint of violet.. the auction title however, said 12k diamond purple, which, is actually what i wanted.. but i got these instead. im over it though because the light output is really darn good.
Morimoto does actually make the different aftermarket colors as Chris said. They're one step below oem.
Especially if you get like xb35s in the h1 size for example. They're proven to be brighter and run at lower temperatures than aftermarket and they comes in 43,5,6k.

If you use your headlights enough, they will dim and blue over time. My stock Phillips 4300k after 7 years were much cooler/bluer than the 5000k bulbs i bought. I also bought new 4300k bulbs for a few months and when i bought my current 5000k there WAS a noticeable difference but not as "cool white" as the Phillips turned out to be. The new bulbs i bought were generic but the arc chamber and glare shields matched up perfect to the factory Phillips
What did you do with your OEM headlights, I'll buy it from you if the price is right.
Morimoto is aftermarket and they make 3000K, 4300K, 5000K and 6000K D2S bulbs (yes for projectors).

TROLL!? Never that.
(10 days to fix)
Good to know! Thanks
I love them man he sells good stuff at a good rate. I was selling his stuff for a while as well. I still have some stock letting it dwindle away.
Isn't that a bit much? What he is selling for the license plate lights seems to have a great deal of output as is.
Most states I've lived in prohibit the use of emergency colors on regular cars. I try to give them as little of a chance as possible to pull me over.
F.I. - a cop can pull you over if your license plate frame covers or partially obscures the county part of the tag, or the registration sticker.
edit - *prohibit the use of emergency colors while the car is driving/on the road
