Dynamat Questions?

I've read a number of threads from the past on this board. Most people who install dynamat do so to improve the acoustics for that new stereo system they spend thousands on. I, on the other hand, do not intend to install a new stereo. I am just interested in, perhaps, doing some dynamat work to my Maxima to quiet the cabin a bit. Some of the previous threads have commented that dynamat actually does very little to quiet road noise. I would really like to get rid of some of the sound pouring into my car when I drive on the crappy highways we have out here. Any thoughts? Any opinions on where the dynamat would need to be applied to have the best effect? Just below the carpeting? Back seats? The doors? All around? Any other ideas/solutions for reducing road noise?

Second set of questions is, for those of you who have done some dynamat work to your cars, what type have you used and your opinions? Dynamat, Dynaliner, TacMat, Dynashield? Particularly interested if anybody has had success with the spray-on Dynashield.

yes

i have dynamat in all my doors, and dynamat extreme in the trunk and under the rear deck.

it seemed to quiet the cabin a tiny bit, but not much. My cabin's already pretty quiet.

my neighbor told me to put some underneath the carpeting in the driver's and passenger's footwells to eliminate some of the road noise from z rated tires. he's a hardcore stereo freak and he says that all that dynamat he uses gave him the side benefit of reduced road noise. i haven't tried it so i can't speak for myself.
he only uses dynamat extreme and he's got something like 100 pounds of that stuff in his car, mostly in his trunk and some in his door panels.

The only way to get rid of road noise is to get quieter tires. "Z" rated tires are noisy. PERIOD.. I just switched to the "H" rated tires for winter, Dunlop Sport A2. The ride got so quiet I thought I was driving a new car.

Road noise from tires get transmitted through your syspension up into the body of the car. Not much you can do to quiet that down. A suspension system designed to ride quiet, ie caddy ride will eliminate a lot of road noise. Our cars aren't designed like caddys, our cars are 4 door sprots cars.

You may be wasting your $$$ with the Dynomat with what your looking to accomplish.

That's what I've been hearing in a lot of other places, but some people seem to say they are getting reduced road noise with the Dynamat. I suppose its minimal, but there would be a little help. Thanks for your feedback.
