Hey guys long time no chat, looking for replacement for my CAI K&N air filter

I just hit 100,000 miles on the filter and it just seems warn out. I remember reading months back that there are better filters (I think they were called cone filters but could be wrong) to buy for a cold air intake replacement, but I cannot find that thread. Can you fine gentleman suggest something for me in terms of the best air filter to get for the CAI. I attached two small pictures of what the current set up looks like and the dimension of the opening to the CAI is 2 7/8" Any help for an old fart 7 year member would be of great help!

Thanks guys!

PS - Also, if anyone knows where to get CHEAP the in cabin air filter that would be nice too as I bought my 2003 Maxima the summer of 2002 and I now have 136,000 miles on it and its never been changed.

I have an Apexi filter on mine. It's a dry flow, so no oil is involved. Quite a few of us here have them. Others have the AEM dry flow, which is also a good filter.

+1 don't have one yet but I plan on getting an AEM dry flow I've read good things about those and Apexi as well

Hmmm I see no CAI

Any filter will work dude, get a BLOX 6" cone filter with a velocity stack off ebay for the cheap, or something like the JWT popcharger for a little more coin. There are many others, I"m sure some will chime in.

As far as the in-cabin filters, you can cheap out and go to Home Depot and get the "cut your own filter" stuff, that blue itchy looking stuff. Used for home furnaces. It'll work, but OEM or equivalent is better. Try Courtesy Nissan, there prices on them were reasonable last I checked.

I have the AEM Dryflow and I love it, very low maintenance and comes in grey which doesn't scream for attention. I was thinking about getting the weapon R which is a foam filter that others have said they like very much. Others say foam sucks but they are simply wrong, I have seen them last very long. The feature about the weapon R that excited me was that you can run a snorkel that plugs directly into the filter to make it a true cool air intake without cutting into your fender. A neat concept and seems to be well thought out and designed properly.

This might be a dumb question but Im old, humor me. How do I find out if its going to fit the opening of my CAI and whats the lifespan on them. Anyone got a link to the cheapest place to buy them?
