Replacing Clutch and Flywheel Soon, Some Opinions Needed
my clutch is going south on my 02 and I will be replacing the flywheel with a Fidanza, and have been reading up on some different clutches and would like a few opinions as far as maybe an exedy stage 1 or a 350z OE spec clutch. anyone that has used both, do they both hold the same power, or close, which one is smoother, easier pedal feel, that sort of thing, my question i guess is, which is more preffered. Im not going any big power, just a few minor odds and ends, intake spacers, CAI, have catback exhaust, and thats about how it will stay. just want a little bit more.

great, thanks for the input. hopefully we can get some more people posting up either for or against your clutch just to see how some people have liked it or disliked it, have you had any starter issues with the fidanza, ive read some people do.

is that clutch good? im about ready to pull the trigger on a new clutch and fidanza flywheel and im trying to find the best combo. i dont want something wicked stiff

Not really sure why you're concerned about how much power they hold. If you're not turbo'd or supercharged then it doesn't make sense to get a stiffer clutch. OEM 350z would be a great choice, anything more would just be overkill.

When I had my 03 maxima I had the Fidanza flywheel and the SPEC stage 3 clutch. I loved the combo, except that the clutch was very stiff for daily driving. But it was a matter of getting used to. I loved the way it grabbed, but most of all, I LOVED that the car revved up like a sport bike (well, almost).

I replaced my stock clutch and flywheel with Exedy Stage 1 and the Fidanza flywheel and it lasted about 10,000 miles. I put another Exedy Stage 1 and it lasted a whole 13,000 miles. The next clutch I installed was the ClutchMaster 06048HDTZ or Stage 3. It is stiffer than stock, but is still a great daily driver and really grabs. I've put over 46,000 on this one and don't seem to have any issues at all.

I'm not so sure that's credible. How do you wear out (2) separate stage 1 clutchs?
The fact that he says that "it still grabs" might indicate some overly aggressive driving. And I'm not one to down that clutch/flywheel ballet is a very delicate dance too. I know a lot of manual tranny drivers will use 1st gear to stop them when they are rolling backwards. REALLY tough on a clutch. You have brakes! --sorry, pet peeve

I always laugh at the guys who put overkill clutches on low power DDs.
They usually last half as long or less too.
And the comment about buddy was obviously a joke. But there's probably a bad IP shaft, Pilot bushing, TOB, etc, etc, or a crapped out FW.
Something is causing repeat clutch failure or something that feels like it.

Matching your clutch to your power outputs is the best way to go. I sure wouldn't want some crazy super heavy clutch in a daily driver.

I am planning to change out my clutch soon. I called courtesy parts requesting a quote on the 350z clutch and i was told is $670 for the 07+ HR. Is it that much expensive now? Is the Exedy DE 350z OEM replacement clutch + Fidanza flywheel be a cheaper deal? Amazon have the Exedy 350z oe for $215..

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet -- Make sure when you do the work to sand down the mating surfaces of the engine and transmission bellhousing. Many an issue has arisen in the past when this wasn't done and that ground was lost.

when i replaced the clutch/flywheel in my 5th gen...i did the stage 1 competition clutch kit and their 10 1/4lb flywheel....i never regret that purchase except w/ me not keeping the car to ride it til the clutch burnt out..i loved that setup
