The most IRRITATING thing about the max....

This is kinda dumb but....How the hell do you guys let the damn water out of the side view mirrors? Those Beee...iches never seem to run out of water after a wash and it leaves some nice water spots on my black finish.

That and also try putting down the windows after a wash.
It can be 3hrs after and the windows still hold the weather

what i do.

- wash car
- drive car up and down the street at 60mph until the driver side window only has droplets.
- then dry it

it does a decent job of removing the excess water from the nooks and crannies...

this is what i do after every wash. i dry off the car and drive once around the block. it gets all the water out of the cracks, lights, and trunk area. dry off what came out and you're good to go. works every time.

I carry a small towel in the glove box and re-dry the leaks after the first stop following a wash.
Both sides and the rear bumper usually need drying again

absolutely, I wash any other time than rush hour, then quick get on the highway, drive a couple exits at around 80mph, then finish drying! wouldn't recommend doing it the day after they salt or sand the roads or near construction zones tho!

I used to drive around the block to "shake" the water out, but depending on the season, would pick up enough dust or pine pollen to ruin the point of it all.

Instead of a shop vac, or credit card, or lowering the windows (which then streaks them,) I use an electric leaf blower. Works FANTASTICALLY! All my neighbors think I'm a complete nut, but at least I have no streaks

I dry the car, then drive a few miles and get out and dry again. I've never seen mirrors that hold so much water as the sides on my max.

Since our cars are black, you can't drive then dry, because the black gets so hot in the sun.

BTW, I highly recommend the California Water Blade for drying, $19.95 but it does a great job.

actually, i think the bigger problem is our trunk!
every time i wash my car and drive for about 10 feet(with everything dried out and blown out with air compressor), the trunk always gets little dirty from water hiding behind the freaking license plate and that little crease in the trunk lid...awwwgh!!

I so the same thing. I also shake the mirrors back and forth a little and it gets 75% of it out and then just watch it for awhile and eventually it all stops dripping. It is VERY annoying, though.

Take it to a steep bridge or some railroad tracks where you can get some nice air between the car and the road. That'll knock the drips right out.

Side Mirrors- I use the leave blower or just swing it and blow into it. I also wipe the buttom and blow in the holes where the screws are. Sometimes I just drive for awhile and then get out and wipe the side.

Windows- I clean the window seal, Roll the windows up and down for a while and wipe them. It doesn't solve it, but it helps somewhat.

Sild molding trim- Same as side mirrors EXCEPT that I don't blow on them

Doors- always wipe the inside part of the door, where the door seals are so water doesn't drip on the bottom section

Trunk lid- I open the trunk and wipe the edges to clear the water. I also use a leave blower to remove the dirty water from the license plate hold and the gaps in the spoiler.

Its ALOT of work to get this car clean. I find most of this is nonsense and should be better designed.
