Toyo Observe

Anyone had any experience with this winter tire? I was thinking about the Blizzaks (more $$) or Dunlop Winter Sport M2s. The Dunlops and the Observes are the same price, with the benefit of the Observes being that I've purchaed them locally (the Dunlops would be through Tiretrack.com)

Thanks

Tony

Hi,

I do have Toyo Observe G02 installed on my 2k1 max (about 6 weeks ago). They handle very well and the noise level is good. On ice (8.5/10), on wet pavement (8.5/10), on snow (9/10) on dry pavement (7.5/10). Over the last years I had the chance to test many models, including Blizzaks, Michelin, Goodyear and Pirelli tires. So far, my opinion is that the Toyos are the best on ice, on wet pavement and on snow. Michelin is second, Pirelli third and Goodyear last (very far behind !!!).

Also, I switched from 16" mags (215/55/16) to 15" steel rims (205/65/15). Form the same price you have a rim plus a tire.

Go with the Toyos !!!! And enjoy winter !!!!

Les Schwabs quoted me on the Observe Garit M+S @ $125 ea. Is that similar to your G02s?

Hi,

The the Garit is a High Performance tire. It is an H speed-rated, where the G02 is T.

The G02 is cheaper than the Garit. And because I decided to go with a smaller rim, it also cost less...

And from what I discussed with my Nissan dealer (and also with an owner from an independant tire shop), Toyos are superior than Michelin and Blizzaks & cost less (a big plus here...). They also both suggest to go with narrower tires because of increased traction in snow and on ice. But again, if your driving conditions is more wet and dry pavement, and you dont need full traction in snow or ice condition, you can go with the Garit.

If you want more information, go on the canadian Toyo website.
