Interior light sets off factory alarm..>

Has this happened to anyone? I had left the interior light on last night be accident...the light near the sunglass holder. Armed the car and went inside, 15 minutes later my alarm is going off. With the air horns installed, let me tell you that this was LOUD. Anyway I had no one parked near me but then I noticed that my interior light was on so that's why I figure the horn went off. Does this sound reasonable? Is the 2000 factory alarm that smart? Kind of weird and figured that it was worth mentioning.

Samething was reported in a previous thread about 2 weeks ago, so I think this is normal.

Happened to me AT LEAST 2x. I think it's normal, but not for me . Also, my car auto-locks after 1/2 hour. (another pain, but it's just me)

i don't think it's ur interior lights that set off ur car. first of all, your interior light is suppose to go off after 5 minutes if they are left turned on(it's part of the battery-saver thing). it must be because of something else..maybe you put your keys in your pants, and the panic button was pressed accidentally...

Couple questions:

- All lights will automatically go off after x minutes? I haven't
noticed
- I don't believe the doors looks but themselves, at least I haven't
experience that

My alarm went off couple times and I don't believe it was the panic button.

I think he ment the reading light, it doesn't turn off automatically.

My alarm went off a while back. When I got down to my car - my reading light was on.

I had an aftermarket alarm that would detect current in the system if the interior lights were left on. They also had to configure the system for the courtesy lights because it would trip the alarm when arming since they stayed on for a while after exiting. Maybe the stock alarm is detecting current in one of the circuits thus tripping the alarm.

I leave the reading light on my car a lot (sunroof) and my alarm never goes off. And the light turns off after 10 minutes. I know this because 1) when I was replacing my shifter, I did it in my garage and turned on the reading light for additional light. With the door open, it turned off after 10 minutes. Shutting the door or opening another door turned it back on. Also, on the 10 or so times, I have been out in my car and left the reading light on, I know that I have left it on because when I get in my car the next morning, it comes on when I open the door and I have to reach up there and turn it off. So, I don't know if it has to do with the light that exits with sunroof/non-sunroof cars, but I know that in some cases (especially mine), when I leave the reading light on, my alarm does not go off and the light turns off automatically after 10 minutes only to come back on next time a door is opened.

I found out the map light was left on...Don't know why but the map light triggers the alarm.
