hi everyone! i just purchased my first maxima and had the service engine soon light come on, i pulled p0420 code(Bank 1 catalyst efficiency). and after doing some research found that this could be a faulty cat converter? im not sure which cat converter is the culprit or the location. can someone provide some information as to the exact cat that needs replacement and location? any information would be appreciated.

 

Are you aware thay this is the 5th Generation Maxima forum, for the 2000 through 2004 cars?

You will probably get better answers if you post on the 6th generation forum that covers the 2006 Maxima.

 

^^+1 But you new so I'll tell you that Bank 1 is closer to the firewall(rear). It could be the Bank 1 precat but could be something as stupid as just something w/ ECU. I know 5th gens very well, 6th gens I know better.
