Color paint?

I have paint peeling off on my hood and I'm debating to paint the hood only or paint the whole car an other color. I got a quote from a shop for $1200 for the whole car. I currently have the sterling mist.

Any suggestions on paint color or just paint the hood?

Thanks in advance.

Match it to the color of the car. Better yet just go to the junkyard and find a hood with no rust.

$1200 seems really cheap for a whole car, I would be very skeptical about the paint job they're going to do.

IMO there are much better ways to spend that money.

I agree with you, I was very skeptical about how the paint job would look and if there would be warrenty on the paint. I will look into some junk yards and see if I could find any hoods.

Thanks for your inputs.

You could always go to the junkyard and get any color hood...... Go for that two-tone look........hehehehe.

But seriously- I'd probably just get the whole car painted. It never is an exact match, especially with that color. I know I have problems with my sunlit sand. Also, even though it's just the hood for now, other parts will probably start to peel now also.

the fact that its a 2 year warranty allready scares me, the paint jobs we do at work have a lifetime warranty. so we have to guarantee paint match and gotta use top of the line materials and because of that we have very many happy customers

you can see some major orange peel in some of their projects. Seems like they have good paint skills but the clear suffers. Probably using the lowest possible paints and clears and very little prep to get the price that low.

I found a shop that would repaint the whole car for $2000 with lifetime warranty. Thinks it's a good idea? I do like the fact the warranty is lifetime.

If I had my way, I would paint my whole car black. Pure dark dark dark dark black.

A lot depends on the mileage and shape of the car and how long you plan to keep it. Mine has 171,000 miles so I wouldn't consider spending $2K on a paint job. I would probably just live with the hood as it was.

Isin't it true also Sterling Mist or even just silver is the hardest color to match for cars?

My car is a 2001 and currently have about 94,000 miles, I plan on keeping the car till it dies on me, but then again you make a point to leave it the way it is because it's an older car.
