My AC/Heating Works ONLY in "OFF" & 1-3 Positions...HELP!

Hello All,

I have not found anything on point on the forum to answer this question. Perhaps someone here can point me in the right direction.

Today, I purchased a blower motor and resistor from Advance Auto Parts, as my blower motor died a couple of days ago in my 2001 Maxima. Before it died, the AC/heater would only work when it was turned to the "OFF" position, as well as settings 1, 2 and 3...nothing on 4. The air coming out in those positions felt as if it was on 4.

After I installed the blower motor and resistor today, air started to come out (good news, I guess), but I still have the same issue as above: air comes out at "OFF", 1, 2 and 3, w/ nothing coming out at 4. The air still feels as if it was on 4. The intensity of the air coming out does not vary.

Any suggestions?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Do you have the auto climate control or the manual controls?

It's manual, I believe.

Is there an "AUTO" button or not?

With a manual system, there isn't much to check besides the fan on/off switch itself. The only other thing I can think of is that someone messed with the wiring.

Download the FSM and do the switch check in section HA, page 167.

I assume these cars have a blower resistor like most other Nissans that regulates fan speed.

It's right in his first post that he already bought and installed one.
