Evening all, With summer rolling around soon enough, I have decided to upgrade from my factory 17" to some 18"s. (2000 Maxima SE) And i've been looking at wheels and tires and reading various reviews for almost a month now, and while a few combos have looked good, I'm just stuck on what to buy. the size i'm most likely going to get is 245/40/18. Tire wise, i want something that balances performance and tread life a summer tire obviously, and something with a speed rating higher than "R" (don't we all :P). My budget for wheels is about $800, and tires about $800. I'm located in Vancouver. For rims, NOTHING CHROME! Thanks all!

And now this piece of work has a PLAID interior. Draw your own conclusion.

PLEASE SHARE PICTURES OF YOU RIDE/ WHEEL TIRE SET UP...
Not nissan made but half-decent for a replica wheel.
I'll see if I can find that info for you, unless someone else can help

Dude I'm 25
Yeah but your Canadian ... every body knows canadians have no taste or sense of style lol..

BUT our .org Canadians know and can prove some of the best ET's and some of the most HP out of these engines, and this was before all of this recent tuning magic.
Canadians are FTMFW
Dandymax, & Jime ... etc.
this is probably due to the fact of there colder weather and there altitude ...
If you recall, over the years, both Jime and Dandy have laid to rest that assumption in that they've sated they typically see temps in the mid 90's, and similar RH's, and their altitude is the same as the US, albeit, possibly in some cases, higher.
Point being, stop making invalid arguments about someones home country and their taste of style, etc.
Canadians are nuts with specifics on cars, details, etc. This is something i've learnt over the years. I don't know why it is, perhaps it's because our market is so limited, and getting things shipped in is so expensive and such a hassle, that we over-research literally every damn detail before hand.
And perhaps, because we don't want to spend over double what the Americans pay for stuff, we find innovative ways to mod, new ideas, etc. Just bolting stuff on isn't such an available option for most of us perhaps. Would certainly make sense to me and a lot of my modifications.
Well, that, and what else are we going to do up here? Can't stay cooped up in our igloos all day.....
Yes Clashez, because Canada is North of you, the Altitude is "higher up"...... MAN YOU"RE SO SMART IT HURTS ME.
Tuner, Don't laugh but i think i found the replica wheels. They are... Sport Editions :/ After what everybody's said, aren't these a fairly low quality brand? I'll post the pic below. Unless hopefully you were referring to another replica. Oh, and thanks for all the help everyone!

You have some research to do on that dude, I really have no idea. All I do know, is there are/were quite a few members that got those rims on here. I haven't heard anything about them in some time though.
If you figure any of it out post back so we can know.
I'm not sure that anyone was referring to the specific name brand so much as the generic unfinshed black with machined surface style of wheel you posted. There's a million wheel makers that put those things out. I know nothing about Sport-Edition as a company perhaps someone can chime in who is more knowledgable.
Nah I'm pretty sure those are them. I have no idea of the quality, weight, etc, etc.

EDIT: I've dug up some interesting things, two posts from people who own them, and one that looks like a tire-rack employee wrote it;
POST #1:
Tire Rack sells a brand from Asia, I think they're called "Sport Edition". I install this wheel on a co-worker's MBz every year. I think they're probably on the 5th season and there have been no issues or problems with the wheels...and the driver is very hard on the car. She's curbed the wheels a few times, etc., and the wheels still look OK. I don't think there's even any corrosion on them.
POST #2:
Addendum to my previous post. I have used Tirerack "sport" wheels for snow tire set ups with no problems. Tirerack tends to at least test the stuff they sell.
I would not use sport wheels for my summer high performance set up but that's just me. I tend to drive a lot gentler on my snow tires because aggressive driving on snow tires on dry road chews up the tires at a hell of rate...
Little may be known about Sport Edition Wheels, but you can be sure these wheels can compete with the best-known customized wheels in the market. Sport Edition is one of Tire Rack's in-house brands, offering customized wheels by Japanese manufacturer Kosei. Its wheels are less expensive than most of its aftermarket counterparts, but offer improved quality and durability
Kosei uses a series of strict quality tests to make sure each Sport Edition wheel delivers reliable performance. Its wheels are produced using advanced low-pressure casting processes. The wheel's rim, disc, and spokes are tested separately for strength, air retention, and resistance to cracking and deformation. Prior to the wheels' release in the market, Kosei ensures each Sport Edition wheel meets quality standards set by TUV Rheinland, an internationally accredited technology testing association.
But aside from their topnotch quality, the best part about Sport Edition Wheels is the wide variety of designs and finishes they come in. Glossy black, machined, stainless steel, polished chrome, silver, grey.you name it and, chances are, Sport Edition's got it. Whatever car you're driving, you'll surely find a wheel design that perfectly complements your car's looks. Sport Edition gives you the chance to customize your car at a more affordable price, proving that you don't need to spend a lot of bucks for a set of elegant, attractive wheels for your ride. More importantly, these wheels are guaranteed to help you enjoy smooth vehicle performance for a long time.

Sport Edition SE-14 Rims some info I found on them
Offset: +35mm Backspacing: 5.67" Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size:225/50-17
Weight: 23.6lbs.

Now will 235's fit on those rims? And is 23.6lbs going to be heavy enough to hurt performance?

What's the price tag on those wheels? Personally I couldnt drop more then 600 dollars on a new set of wheels. There almost a perfect copy.. 23 pounds is pretty light I wonder if that's the weight of the 18'' size or 19''.. I think I found my second set of wheels if the price isn't to extreme
18x8
$135 (each)
Offset: +35mm Backspacing: 5.90" Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Rec. Tire Size:235/45-18
Weight: 25.6lbs.

Unless you want to buy the real ones.
And they're 1" smaller in height and width.
Not bad at all by comparison.

I'm thinking if the rims are 18x8, 235/40/18. Now this is where i'm stuck. I really don't know much at all about tires, and the research i've done hasn't helped in deciding on an actual brand/model.
Only because Denver is in the mountains and Death Valley is well a valley. What you're referring to is Topographical Location. What I meant was in reference to a North, South, East, & West locations having no relative bearing on altitude. I.E. Canada vs. U.S.A. to be exact.
