6 spd swap into 5.5

Buying an auto was a huge mistake. There's just no fun in it. Mechanically I have no idea what I would be doing so DIY won't be an option lol. For those who have done this, I'm wondering how much this generally costs to swap trannys and any big changes that need to be done along with the swap?

I see one in the classifields so I'd like to learn some more on this.

My boy did it,, and said he will never do that again. the auto to 6 speed swap on the 5.5 is a headache and a half. Sell your car, get a 6 speed i promise you it will be well worth your money

its really not a whole lot different than a 5mt swap.... there is probebly 1 step thats different... depending on ho budget you go the total cost of labor n parts are about $2000 give or take IMO is worth it vs the hassle of demodding, selling for less price, finding a 6mt n having to pay about 2K more plus gong through the DMV n inspection n all that random BS

It's the motor mount swap/fab/new mounting deal/issue that's different. (5MT vs 6MT) and makes it for a non-direct plug n play.

Yup. But it's pretty easy to do with the correct tools.

1. grind/cut/shave off old mount.
2. mate tranny to motor
3. line up mount and mark holes
4. drop tranny and drill
5. bolt the mount on.
6. bolt everything else up.

No ECU swap out? Just kept the auto ECU with the trans controller unplugged? And really the clutch master cylinder is bolt up? I've cut 1 too many holes in to the firewall on the 4th gens...so that is the case...I'm a little bitter.

Perhaps I should stop being lazy and go read the other threads...
