Again.. Yellow FOGS
Again.. Yellow FOGS
Again.. Yellow FOGS
I KNOW a thread was posted last week about this situation, but my questions are still unanswered.
I want to go with the Yellow Lexus capsules and 3000k bulb.
i have an 02 SE if that matters, and was wondering where i can purchase this setup(not eBay) does anyone have links?.. when i google it, it brings me to forums.. not websites where i can purchase these from. Also would you consider this a good idea.. or are there better ways to make them yellow.
PS: easiest way of installing?
thanks.

eBay or forums are the only places you're gonna find Lexus capsules. They cannot be bought new elsewhere.
To install, don't the fogs have to be opened up? I don't think there's any "easier" way.

What exactly is a capsule? Does it replace the entire fog light? and when I try to buy one what size/type should I buy?
And then the 3000k bulb do I buy a yellow HID? Are thee brand names
Don't mean to sound dumb. My first car, I don't know much
This is what installing a capsule is like

Keep in mind if you don't do it perfect the first time you are going to have to open your fogs again until it is perfect. Here's how mine used to be setup.
I had one of the capsules come loose and fall out. at that point I stopped using my fogs.

There are 4 ES300's in the local pick n pull yard a friend of mine owns, not sure about his other yard, but I think he's got an IS or two there. RR5 has the best idea I think, get out to the local salvage yards and find them. You can get them super cheap that way, and don't have to worry about shipping or anything like that.

Ok thank you haha.. It's the process very very hard or did you just mess up ? Maybe a bad capsule

Would that be yellow enough without a capsule?! And it's not to powerful for stock fog lights surroundings right? Like the plastic etc

It depends on what you planning to use for as bulbs. When I first did lexus capsules in my fogs I used 9005 capsules which worked great for clearing some of the H3 HID bulbs out there...however for a 5.5 gen foglamp, it will bump up against the lens and I couldn't use the glare shields. At one point when reassembling the lamp, I cracked one of the capsules...and over time, that capsule shattered.
2nd time around I found H3 style capsules that people used for early 90's Acura integra's. The mounting was completely different and required me to do a bit of modification to the lamp. After it was done, I was having issues with clearance of the bulb. Still running this now, but it works.
Moral of the story is not all capsules are created equal and be prepared to do some modification to make it work.

From a salvage yard in California, $150 for a pair of IS300 fog lamps with the yellow capsule. Let me know if you want the contact details. I'd love to pick up the pair but gotta watch my spending.
Thank you for all that information man!.. I think I am going to go with the h3 3000k yellow xenon and then put a yellow tint over the fogs that way I don't have to do major modifications(i have a feeling I would mess that process up)
Well I did a search for Lexus parts, turned up a web page and I sent a price inquiry and got a reply back. Two Lexus IS300 2000-2003? fog lamps with the yellow capsules (we want those capsules, the fog lamps can be re-sold without them) for $150.
