hid kit/ halo question
hid kit/ halo question
hi i have a 2002 maxima se and i have the factory hid's. i got the halo projectors and i was wondering if i could just buy the JLM Elite Digital HID Kit 9006 6000K and use it with the projector headlights.. is this possible? or any ideas let me know
The only projector/halo I know of is the cheap Ebay knock-off headlight assemblies that have them built in.
If you want halos, get them, but only the halos, you already have HID headlights. As CJ already said.
And your HID's are REFLECTOR style, not projectors. They're still HID's though.
Halo projectors? What are you talking about here?

OEM headlights can be purchased here on the org is someone is selling, eBay, or at the stealership.
You are being told to get rid of those "projectors" because they are cheap knockoffs. They aren't any good and will be worse for light than using the OEM halogen housing from the 2k's.

If you are dead-set on having projectors, you can use the ebay headlights and retrofit them. The housings are fine, it's just the projectors in them that are ridiculously lame. Just be ready to drop about $500-$600 on the project to do it right. Here's my thread on my retrofit project: http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...fit-build.html When I finished, I treated the lenses with LightRite (http://www.cureuv.com/lightrite-uv-h...storation.html), which gives them a bulletproof coating, so I ended up with a very high quality set of lights. I kept the crappy halos on them, but you can replace them with CCFL halos, available through The Retrofit Source and several other places.
Lots of info on the org for retrofitting.
