What is your 01 Max SE equiped with ? The lowest I seen a base SE for is 22,488...6speed.

 

Yeah it may be a PITA not to get it financed (5yr home equity or personal loan from a bank?), but you can make it a loaded model...

The dealer can probably point you to a sunroof installer for about $1K, lifetime warranty.

Leatherseats.com will get you nicer than Nissan leather for under $700. Or get a group deal going for discounts

Patience will get you a Bose system that was pulled from a stock car for considerably less $$ Or you could roll your own monster stereo for the cost of the Bose

About the only things you can't do are side airbags, meridian (doable, but a real PITA vs the OEM cost) and traction control.

$21,999 + 540 destination + ~$3.5k in personal upgrades is $26K
a pretty nice deal. Less than invoice compared to a similarly equipped Dealer car.

 

Would it make you feel better if you got 19k for your car? Cause I'm sure the dealer would give it to you. Of course the price of his car just went up to 24k. If you get a smokin' deal on their car, you know they're going to offer you wholesale or less for yours. Honestly, that's only 5k difference. Not a bad deal if you think about. Talk the dealer up to 17.5k on your trade and I think you've worked a pretty good deal.

 

Read the fine print. It most likely says "1 at this price" and when you get there, they'll say it's been sold. (You should get there when it opens on the first day of the advertised sale to beat them at that game.) Bat that is a killer deal. I got a base SE auto with floor mats and painted splash guards for $23,411 and I'm happy enough with that (because I got $1500 more for my trade-in than they wanted to give, also).

 

Ehh.. there was a dealer in NJ that kept doing this (1 at this price).. When I actually went to go check out the car (it was a max GXE for like 17,000 !!), this is what I found

#1. it was the test drive car... everyone beat the snot out of it for the first 80 miles of its life!!
#2. it was scratched
#3. it was green... no offense
#4. no new car smell.. :-( major turn off
#5. salesman knew nothing about the car he was trying to sell me... told me it ran on regular gas.. I was slightly more educated.
#6. i saw it in the paper for another good 3 months before some fool bought it...

Quirk is good place to get a new car without trade in....
goto other dealer, the new car's price may go up a little but they will give u better price for ur 2k1...good luck.
