Hay guys

Ive just went to an auto transmission specialist about my problem with my tranny shifting. He said the gearbox seems to change fine. but he said he noticed a missfire or miss when cruising at 30miles then putting his foot down abit the downshift from 3rd to 2nd gear would hesitate for a second the revs would drop then it would finally go back to second gear and the revs would rise. He reckons theres some kind of miss with it like a maf or tps problem.? He said its as if the maf or watever is telling the ecu the wrong throttle load or something along those lines. Does anyone kinda understand what hes on about? He said with the full throttle lag and delayed change could possibly be this problem or internal. He said if it internal it would get worse.

Cheers kurt

Well as a start the transmission is simply not perfect. The shift points are fine for normal driving but not ideal if you want to be sporty. The TPS could be off like he said and the MAF could be bad as well. Now if the MAF was off it would simply not allow the engine to make power to its potential. I would look into transgo kit or a transmission control module from JWT if its available for your year if it bother you enough

So hard to diagnose this stuff by a second hand report, I mean this is you telling us what your mechanic has said. So, it's a tough call. Do you trust him?
Seems he is steering you to some possible engine issues. But, you faile to mention any codes. Would be good to contact Nissan and see if all the recalls have been performed. My car had never got the crank pos sensors recall done, so had it done free last year.
Regarding the shifting, as best I can translate, sounds about right for this tranny. But, it's been mentioned alot, this tranny just is wrought with issues when trying to do more than leisurely driving. Shoot, my tranny has the hd2 kit and with all my few power adders (intake, spacers, bop, headers, y, and 3" catback), my tranny sometimes won't shift before I hit redline and bounce off the rev limiter. So yeah, expect some typical issues. Main concern would be slippage between shifts.

Good luck with the maintenance stuff.

Faulty maf sensor used to make my first 5thgen AT shift like **** and even slam into gear because of the ecu getting the wrong signals. I replaced the maf and it started shifting like it should again.

I don't know if I trust this guy. They did overfill the gearbox quite Abit when first did the service I don't even know if that's done permanent damage cause after I drained the oil back out to have it on normal leval again it seemed to fix the problem for a couple days then its popped back up again. How can I check for codes or do I have to go to a dealer?

Obd2 scanner that indicates the ability to do so. Lesser scanners do not, iirc.
