I would use Modil1 Synthetic because I've heard repeatedly it's the best. I unfortunately do not have the time to change my own oil and my dealer uses Castrol Syntex? (synthetic) seems to be doing a good job!

I don't know which is better, but I use Pennzoil synthetic. What I've read, however, is to use 100% synthetic and not a synthetic blend.

Mobil 1 and Royal Purple are the best as far as synthetics go (from what I've heard). I only use regular Mobil oil in my cars, since I don't beat the snot of them and I change the oil religiously every 3,000 miles.

The engine we pulled from my Monte SS only had regular oil, changed at 3K mile intervals, and was still clean inside with 176,760 miles showing on the odometer. It still ran great, I just wanted to replace it with something more powerful.

Amsoil, but not until the motor is broken in. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is worth it.

for the people who bring their syn oil to the dealer to get it changed.does anyone watch the service guys put the oil into your car?
i haven't switched to syn yet , but when i do i may still go to the dealer to get it changed.
just food for thought.

i don't go to dealer for my regular oil change...don't trust those people in my car driving in their lot..god knows if they might just take it out for a test drive or scrape my bumper..

I got my oil changed at a Mobil station last time. They even lubed some unmentionable parts for free!

If you are that concerned about getting ripped (ie the shop stealing your synthetic and giving you dino), then go to Jiffy Lube or Valvoline or someplace like that. At most of these places you are either sitting in the car or can at least watch what they're doing from the waiting area...
