Fix Skirt On 03' Maxima?
Fix Skirt On 03' Maxima?
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix the side skirts on the 03 Max? Bought car around 3 months ago and the skirt clips broke towards the center, so the skirt is not flush with the car. It pops out towards the center. Anyone know how to fix this, or where to buy new clips?
If its actually the clips you can get them from Nissan, eBay sales auto clips used in specific and general vehicles, or you could post a wtb thread in the sale threads.
If you are referring the the little peices the connectors attach to that protrude from the skirt, then I suggest JB weld to reattach the peices, should hold without issue.

i have fixed side skirts a few times before. For me, what works is windshield urethane, to repair the plastic tabs that hold the clips to secure the skirt to the body of the car. (Hope thats clear enought).
Most of the time its the tabs (originally part of the mold of the skirt) break off. Most dealerships will tell you to replace the side skirt, but that is pricey especially after you're done getting them painted to match your car.
I have tried the two part plastic epoxies before but they did not work too well because they dry out very hard and any pressure on the skirt will snap them off again.
My trick is I clean the underside of the skirts very well. I clean the broken tabs and then used grease remover to remove any and all residue. When comp[letely dry, I apply a liberal amount of windshield urethane (the stuff glass shops use to glue in the windshield) comes in a tube, and sink in the tabs into the urethane. Let it cure up for an hour or two, depending on temperature, and mount the skirt to the car. The nice thing about the urethane is that it is still somewhat flexible so the tabs don't just snap off if you hit them lightly.
Hope this helps. A bit pricey but works well for many other things.
