Question on buying remote 2000 Max on ebay....

O recently purchased a 2000 Maxima GXE which came with only 1 key. The remote has a part # for a 2000-2004 nissan sentra, nhvbu427, should I buy the same one?? or should I buy the the maxima one. Also the power window roll up/down by holding the remote unlock/lock for 5 seconds does not work. is this due to the wrong remote or was this not an option in 2000. It has power windows... Thanks guys....

It's not your remote, the windows down feature don't work. I have a 2001 with the correct remote and that feature was not included in our year car so another remote from ebay will not do you any good unless you have some aftermarket/alarm installed that has a windows roll down feature. If you ever need another key for it, then I say go to ebay and get yourself another key so that you have something to use incase you lock your keys inside the car or loose your keys. If you just need it for the doors, you don't even need it programmed, if you want it to be able to start the car, you need a chipped key and programming. Locksmith or a dealer can program it for you or if you are close by I can do it for you for a reasonable price.

1995 to 1999 had window roll down, 2000 & 2001 did not and 2002 & up have window roll down.

Get yourself another chipped key (or 2) made for the car. You can find the blank keys on the internet and then find a local locksmith to cut and program them. Somewhere in the future you will be glad you did.
