Oil Light

Hello, I have a 2003 Maxima with 125000 miles. A couple months ago I noticed the oil light stay on for a half a second on a cold start. I checked the oil level and it is good. I changed the oil, the filter and the pressure switch. Left it sit for about a half and hour, and started it. The light went off immediatly. Left it for and hour and same result. When I went to start it again today, after about 8hrs, the light stayed on again. The engine sounds fine and it does not stay on for more than a quick blink. Like I said before, it is only on a cold start. Anybody have any ideas what this could be??

I get it all the time. Normal.

Oil pressure needs a second or two in order to begin flowing/moving.

My 4th gen blinks sometimes when it's been sitting for longer than a week.

It just started to do it though. Ive had it for three years and it has never done it. I'm a bit nervous about it. If it was something major, would my car show a code?

i had this when i bought my car, and i bought the oil pressure switch cause it was so cheap, but i never got around to change it, and it sort of went away on its own? i never noticed any problem though, just the light flicker for half a second.

Normal. Oil light comes on for low oil pressure IIRC, and initial start up is low-pressure, especially when cold. As long as it's not on for 1 second or more and the level/condition of the oil/filter is good I wouldn't worry about it.

Well after taking it for a drive to the store today, I was dis heartened to find that the light came on and stayed on for about a second at start up in the parking lot. I took it to get codesccodes checked but the codes are just anti theft and mass air leak. What could be causing the loss of pressure?

I'm not sure I would be worried about the light staying illuminated for 1 second either, personally. If the oil level is good and the motor sounds like it's running fine I really wouldn't be too concerned.
