WTF BRAKES!

hey all,

a few months back i replaced my rear pads because i was getting some squeaking noises, didnt fix my problem, last week i did my fronts and machined my rotors. didnt fix it, so now on top of the aqueaking that turns into kinda like a sand paper noise when even th smallest amount of break is applied im getting an aweful grinding noise thats more noticeable right befor i come to a stop. it seemed to start a week after doing the fronts so im pretty sure its coming from the fronts.. any ideas?

your splash shield may be a little bent and rubbing on the front rotors. It happened to me. The way to tell is to jack the car up and remove one front wheel at a time, look at the back of the rotor from the bottom of the wheel you removed and you will see a solid round mark on the rotor or rotors. Check both of the front wheels.

dust shield isnt rubbing, brakes are seated properly.. i do notice that my rotors are kinda black, ive done lots of suspention swaps and brake jobs and never noticed brake rotors to be so black, i disnt cheap out on brakes but i also didnt get the best... i am now wondering if this noise im hearing is material transfer (brake material transferring to the rotors) would that cause the noise im exeriencing?

I am experiencing the same thing and I read somewhere that the OEM rotors are the source of it. I am planning on replacing them with the 125 centric rotors. Hopefully that will solve the problem..

well i guess ill throw some new rotors on her in a bit. 30 bucks a pop, i guess its worth it. i didnt pay to have my front rotors to be machined either so there is no real loss. its wierd how the grinding only started once they were machined though.

i did my rear pads that had 20% because of a squeal that was there and left the rotors, i did my front pads at 30% mind you the pads were litterally falling apart, and machined my rotors because they were a bit warped. i thought that had something to do with the squeal after doing the backs, but no luck still there. i guess new rotors all around and my pads should be ok still, correct? they are still in the 90% range or should i just throw on new pads and rotors?
