5th Gen Engine Swap

I purchased a 01 maxima with 143000 miles and the head gasket is bad on the car. got a car fax report on the car and there has been 4 different owners and the car was crashed back in 05 so im looking to do an engine swap for a low millage moter to avoid any problems down the road

i called a few places around and they told me that im looking at $1000 for labor and about $1000 for a engine with 90,000 miles.
could anyone point me out to a good reputed place online or in the south FL area that provides a good low millage engine + swap?

^ Thanks for the props guys!

I can most certainly beat the price of 1k for the engine, no problem, PM me for details.

We have a local forum for questions like that, also referred to as regional forums, check it out.

http://forums.maxima.org/southeast-u-s-18/

Or www.car-part.com to find something local.

I'm 100% sure aack can get you a pellet with an engine on it delivered to your choice of addresses, with less than 90k miles for less than $1k.

If the engine he has is better condition than your current(pretty sure it is) why does it matter that it has 138k? Im not saying go get a 200K engine to swap in but I wouldn't fix a blown head gasket in the vq when I could get another one with no issues. good luck and the site nmex gave you is your best bet if you dont wanna get it from aackshun

Did a vin check up on the engine to verify miles and the car it came out of was salvaged back in February of this year what if the engine craps out on me a few months from now? my engine was in a car crash back in 05 and its still running i was thinking of haveing my engine completely rebuild with brand new parts like if it came with zero miles, would this be a good idea to do ?

there's no guarantee with used engines but thats why most will have some type of short term warranty. I wouldn't rebuild an engine unless I was replacing the parts with high performance quality ones. A salvaged car could mean anything doesn't mean the engine took a hit but if you dont want to risk it just go on the sites nmex gave you and find another low mileage engine. There are plenty of low mileage engines out there. A simple direct engine swap is going to be the most cost effective way of repairing your max. The cost of a low mileage engine and labor could be less than a head gasket repair in some places. good luck on your search

That's not a direct swap and a lil more is involved, you can search the org for those answers.
