wheel rotation

i have 11000 on my car and my dealer says that he has to do something called wheel rotation. Is that neccassary ? And whaT IS it for? Should this be expensive or covered under waranty or something? And if it does turn out to expensive, can i just do it myself?

yes you should have it done. No its not covered under warranty. if they even charge you it should not be more than $10-15. Yes you can do it yourself.

The reason to do this is to get the best tread life out of you tires. If you don't rotate the tires the drive wheels (the front wheels) will wear down considerably faster than the non-drive (rear wheels). Granted it's not life threatening, but it just helps you get better wear and longer tire life. Check out your owner's manual for a diagram and better explanation of the rotation schedule.

On average most people do their wheel rotations every 7500 miles.. I do mines every 5000 miles.. It all depends on you driving style..
