I have a 2001 maxima 5speed and I've noticed there aren't many options for headers so I thought of installing an electrical header cutoff... with the flip of a switch the extra exhaust pipe with a carb door like opens to release all exhaust before the cat.... good or bad idea??

Are you asking if n electric cutout by both header collectors is a good or bad idea???.... I say just buy headers if thats what you are trying to do...

looking to have stock exhaust with cutback system but a cutoff before the cat.... you know open them up n go... bad is it a bad idea with the vq30
