Car stalled with AC on or feels like it is losing power

Hi,
My '03 Max has 158K miles. I was driving on one of the hot days in PA and all of the sudden my car stalled like I was out of gas. I had just filled the tank that morning. After it sat for about 5 minutes it finally started again. When the car died I still had power as all the lights were on. I replaced the alternator last year and the oil pan (there is still a leak somewhere) so I am not sure what it may be. The TB was cleaned 2 years ago and I check the oil on a constant basis. I was told that the evap canister and valve needed to be changed because my ses light came on bit it has since gone out. Not sure what the issue could be and any information would be a great help.
Thanks.

Did you ever figure this out? Same thing happened to me last night. I had just filled up the gas tank and think that may have something to do with it. Didn't overfill it but remember a thread somewhere referring to charcoal in the evap canister causing problems. Luckily it was late and no traffic around but I was sweating the drive to work this morning waiting for it to happen again.

Could be a battery that is going bad or a loose connection. There is a thread around here with detailed battery/alternator testing instructions.

I haven't had the problem since that one day of course it was as hot as uknowwhat, so I thought that may have had something to do with it. I will look into the AC compressor. Does anyone know about how long they last?
