Instrument cluster gauges not working - 2000

I just purchased a high mileage 2000 Maxima GLE and the instrument cluster gauges (gas, tach, speed, temp) are intermittenly mal-functioning. When car is cold, they work fine, but when it warms up and you drive for about 30 minutes, they all shut down. Not sure how to diagnose the problem. Appreciate help.

start with process of elimination, get another cluster from the scrapyard and swap it out(google how to replace it) see if same thing happens. This will tell you if its wiring with your car or with the cluster.

Most likely it's an issue in teh cluster. Replace it as advised above, or if you're super good at soldering, you can try and re-flow some of the solderpoints on the circuit board...

Check the fuses first. There's a couple easy to short things on the GAUGE fuse circuit. The prongs that hold the fuse or the fuse itself could be bad and coming loose intermittently.

The GAUGES fuse is in the fuse panel inside the car.

Check cheapest easiest things first.

the fact that you say it stop working after its warmed up makes it seem like loose solder joints on the cluster and its disconnecting due to thermal expansion.

All due respect, but do you really think electrical wires/solder joints take a long time to 'warm up'? This might be true for sensors in the engine bay that will get much hotter as the engine warms, but not for in-cab electronics.

Then again, who knows what the OP means by "WARMS UP", maybe you're right. I just assumed he means when the engine gets up to operating temps.

Clarification would help I suppose

All due respect, those in-cab electronic do warm up over time...you ever touched the radio or cluster(without clear cover) after driving for a short amount of time? It gets pretty warm after a while. 30 minutes? eh shorter than that I'd say but the OP did say "about" as well. Your right clarification may help but either way I agree to check fuses first(because it cheapest) but it's probably just the cluster itself.

After all these years the clusters seem to die out(our cars aren't the greatest when it comes to electronic durability) *shrug*

Meh these cars are better than a lot, but not the best by far. Front end issues are ridiculous.

But yeah, some stuff gets hotter than others., the Gauge cluster is a simple thing, it doesn't get very hot at all, and it gets to 'temp' pretty much right away (1-2 minutes)

Mine does the same. I was thinking it might be the speed sensor since it might be outside...
