Do you have full coverage on your max?

Since my car is 10 years old and getting alot of miles I'm thinking of removing full coverage. I live in South Florida and I'm sure the car isn't worth more than 4 grand by now, do you think it's a good idea? I'm still paying 130 a month for FC so if I switch to basic I'll be paying much less (85) and if I get just pip it's 37 a month...

For you guys what type insurance you have on the car? Of course I"m scared of getting hit and having to foot the bill myself.

I have full coverage on my 2000 Maxima, including uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. I have Allstate and a good driving record, so it costs me less than $80 a month for it. If you don't have full coverage (collision) and you are the at-fault driver in a crash, you don't get any money for your car. That happened to a friend of mine who skidded off the road and her car got totaled. She didn't get a dime for it because she dropped her full coverage insurance.

Also, if you have full coverage, you can get your windshield replaced if you get a crack in your general viewing area if it's 6 inches or more. No cost to you.

Personally I wouldn't risk lowering your coverage. If you're looking to save money, I'd look for cuts elsewhere to make in your lifestyle/budget.

I have Liability and Comprehensive. No collision. If something's my fault I'll fix it and live with it. Also I'm at 177K on the I35 so it doesn't make sense

If it gets totaled and you are the at fault driver, then you get nothing. Remember that. Getting a couple grand is better than getting nothing.

The only reason I don't have full coverage is because I can't afford it with a DUI on my back ;( other than that its worth it to me.

Insurance is the biggest scam there is so the lower you pay the better all these people talking about leave full coverage must be rich. With all that money you save from paying full coverage you should be able to pay to fix your own car god forbids something happens.

If someone hits you, THEIRS will cover it. Unless they don't have any, then your (uninsured) will, or you pay out of pocket.

If car gets stolen or hail damage, then you better have comprehensive, unless you want to pay for taht too out-of-pocket.

Many states have a minimum of liability only. This is not enough in many cases.

Full coverage for me...pay around $50/month.

I'd only pay for liability if the car isn't worth anything. Would suck to lose a car and have to start with payments all over again just because of an accident.

I know. It just seems unjustifiable that the amount i have paid in insurance since my 16'th birthday is more than the car is worth. And it's only been 16 months.

Full coverage, let's not talk about how much it costs. Metlife, a bunch of speeding tickets. Yeah.

It gets better when you get older. My wife and I have high limits (half mill) and full coverage...I'm 29 she's 30, two cars, and it's 100 a month total for both of us...

I have full coverage on my Maxima. 100,000 - 300,000 are my premiums. I wouldn't drive a car without Comp and Collision. Plus I work at Liberty Mutual, so I would feel kinda stupid if I did.

Left this out, I'm 25 no accidents, no DUI's and only one speeding ticket, and I pay $85.33 a month.

That's nice!

I hated having comp and collision when I was making payments on my old car...never ended up using it (was required when financing a vehicle to have full insurance coverage). But I think right around the time I paid it off I realized the benefits of it and kept paying 'em.

When the wife rear-ended someone (couple times), it ended up being about 7 grand and 3 grand in damage each time...and we were only on the hook for the deductible. So yeah, if you have a car that is worth keeping (to you), then it's absolutely worth the little extra to have comprehensive and collision.

I bought a 97 in march with 180k on it and it was $11 a month for collision and I debated it for a few minutes and said sure, just spent a decent chunk of cash on this car so why not. Now me and my wife have been both driving for 14ish year with no accidents caused by us, Ive been hit but shes never been in the drivers seat and been in any wreck or even been pulled over. So why get full coverage? Because in a split second we become human and my wife was in a fluke accident that was legally her fault that destroyed the car. So I had the car for 2 months and paid $22 for collision and got a $3800 check from the insurance company.

So if you already have everything else besides collision it would only be a few bucks for it.

But my logic is if I dont have the amount the car would cost to replace just lying around and it wouldnt hurt me financially at all to buy another one then you are self insured and dont need comp and coll.

just my 2 cents

Bad credit will also raise your insurance premium...just sayin' age isn't the only factor.

Ive got full coverage and its $121 but I was in a wreck last year too. Cop said it was my fault and it wasnt (Witness report even went missing) but I ate it as I had no court or tickets or anything for it. Thats with Allstate. Progressive said it was $80 for the same coverage but I dont want the hassle of moving my house and cage insurance over.

I pay like $60 a month with the highest limits available. Your zip code is a big factor on your rates too, closer you are to a city the more you will pay and the bigger the city the more it is. I am 32 with a clean record.

In PA here I have 3 cars; 99 Corolla, 03 MDX and 02 Maxima. I have full coverage (comp and collission), $100k bodily injury and property damage, uninsured motorist injury of $300k, and $5000 EXTRA insurance coverage on the Maxima because of all the work I put into it. So if it gets wrecked I get at least $5000 cash because of all the work I put into it. $500 deductible. I pay $180/mth for all 3 cars. Its worth it to me.
