Excessive Pressure in Gas Tank

So I had my evap canister replaced about 2 years ago and have had no related CEL's since. However, when I go to the gas station to fill up the safety triggers on the pumps go off and sometimes gas even comes out of the fuel filler. HELP!! If this is as simple as needing a new gas cap i'll poop myself.

Since you have the gas filler cap off, I don't know how the cap could possibly be a problem. With the cap off, there is no pressure in the gas tank. I know that some gas stations have the pump pressure higher than other stations (to fill the tank faster?) and I get this splashback. A possibility is that the filler tube going into the gas tank may have gotten a dent in it that reduces the flow into the tank.

If it's a big nozzle it will definitely stop the air from escaping (bimmer experience), but it sounds like his canister or something is clogged and it's not venting through that at all (I assume it can even if the car is off).

Easy fix: Use the adjustable flow latches on the nozzle and try it at about half way and see if the gas stays down. Decrease the flow further if it's still regurgitating.

I have to use the slowest speed for the bimmer (1991 baby) at newer gas stations

I <3 my e30 (89 325iX baby). However, that car gives me no trouble when I wanna give it more 'splosivejuice. Still fight with the maxima every time i get to a gas station. Could it have something to do the with amount of fuel additives I used at one point? I ran a Lubromoly engine renewal kit which is like 8 cans of additive(1 per tank).
