Controlling auto upshift

Hay guys

Once again haven't gotten any replys in the 6th gen section so I'm gonna
Post here for everything from now on. My 6th gen 4sp auto seems to definatly pick up better when manually shifting at higher rpm. The standard upshift is 6500rpm. When I manually try and shift it at 7rpm just before the limiter it feels so much quicker. I contacted uprev and asked if there aftermarket computars control the auto upshift and they said its seperate to the ecu. So my question is how do u auto guys make the computar shift at higher rpm?

Cheers kurt

You say you have a 6th gen, Which has Triptronic. If you want to shift after redline (dumb idea already) use it. Telling the TCU to shift later (if it's even possible) is just not smart.
EDIT: Oh and 6th gens have 5AT's, not 4AT's.

Actually mate 6th gens didn't all have 5sp autos they did have 4sp auto also pal. My 6th gen dosent have triptronic. The engine can handle it cause I've looked it up. But I'm working out wat I'm gonna do with the later upshifts as I've done done timing test and it's definatly quicker shifting at the higher rpm. So basically manually shifting is way to inconsistent so I'm looking at my options.

I wouldn't even bother. Autos are slow, 4 spd autos are really slow. And the tach is off.

Power drops off bad after peak (5,800?), so even with the longer gearing, I doubt that it can make that much difference going to 6,500. I guess it shifts at 6,200?

Money and time is better spent on breathing mods.

Well I wouldn't say a 14.3 time is slow for an 4sp auto with just a full exhaust. With tuning and cai it's a 13 second car. So that's why I'm asking the question? There are a couple of high hp 4sp auto in the 5th gen section I'm shore they will reply or other members on this cause I've seen a couple YouTube videos of some 4sp auto revving out.

Cheers kurt

I have a 6th gen sitting outside, It has 5 speeds.
EDIT: So apparently only the SE has a 5AT. the others have a 4AT. That is weird.
