Show n go hidden flip plate

I am, well as far as i know the third maxima owner to do the electric flip plate mod. First was a 5.5 genner, 4th gen guy then me. Wiring was easy, the mounting however was a pain in the a$$! couple hours later, viola!

We're going to have red light camera's installed and go online soon here. This would be great if I could find a way for it to tuck under since the plate mounts on the trunk lid instead of on the bumper. Maybe I need to get a 3rd gen since they have bumper mounted plates.

haha this is actually only for the front. However there was a guy i saw with an nsx, on the rear plate he had a clear cover over it. With the press of a button on his remote it turned jet black instantly completely hiding the rear plate. I dont drive fast so i dont see myself getting it lol

I love it.

They have this electrochromatic film you can get that goes clear when it's powered up, so you can wire it to cut power via toggle switch and/or when the car shuts off it blanks out. I thought about doing that, but I actually really like this idea for the front. Where'd you get it from anyways, that looks to be pretty good quality?

Unless they take a picture of your face (and the last time I checked) you cannot be held accountable (meaning you don't have to pay). Variations by state, of course.

I know some municipalities have made trumped up illegal laws making running red light cameras another offense, so you have to show up in court.

F em all. Greedy, lying SOBs. "This isn't about money" But the advertising for the company selling the **** says it's for making money, hmmmm.

I go through and throw the letters in the trash. I don't intentionally run lights, but if I'm making a right turn, the road's wet and it changes on me close, F it.

The mayor actually said that the main reason why he's installing them is to make revenue for the city.

In TN they don't require a facial image. They also quickly did away with the cams citing you for right on reds.
I recall seeing a kit for trunk tags. Think you had to cut a hole about the size of the tag though and install a "flip box" where you could rotate your tag out for a blank or another mounted plate (ie: F U). Then rotate the plate back again.

I wouldnt wanna cut anything on the trunk, they go super hard over here with the no front plate tickets.

I may look into that film that blacks out with the push of a button.

I would be interested as well in seeing a write up with a few pic's as well as links to the type of flip plate you are using ... most that I have found either flip up or down but the one you have installed appears to slide out first and then flip, which is excellent ... very nice little mod indeed

I am modding my front bumper on the G, probably custom so I'd find a way to incorporate this i think, if it's of good quality . Needs linky, what's the hold up on the link? Hmmm? Hmmmm? lol

Agreed. The sliding mechanism is a very classy touch. I've seen the ones that flip up or down, but that sliding trick has me sold.

In georgia most of the red light cameras could not pay for themselves and combined with people complaining most have been shut down. I have personally seen the eletro-film that Tuner spoke on and it is really neat. A guy on Super speeders uses it and it works quite well and is COMPLETELY clear when looking at it so no cop will pull you over for an "obstruction" complaint

So sorry for the late responses, my computer crashed last week and my smart phone has been the only way to log on here lol thanks for the positive reception guys! I absolutely love the way it tucks in and hides, if I had mounted it further back I think it would have been more flush. Tuner, post a pic of your bumper and I will see if it fits or not. Lmao @clashez sorry bro! Haha. Most of the things I used to install are already mounted, however I do believe I have spare parts. I can do one of two things, 1. Make a video tutorial/ walkthrough of the process which is easier since its all been installed or 2. Write the walkthrough which won't be til maybe the weekend or earliest Thursday when I'm by s computer. I know of one or two other flip plates but the show n go by altec is the most famous so I went with that. So let me know what you guys want and I will make it as soon as I can.

Thanks so much for the great responses man.
Is the frame change-able? ie. do you have that logo, etc from the manfuacturer visible all the time when the plates out? That's something that would turn me away from that one and onto a nother company.

Can you comment on quality?

As for my G's application, I'm goign to be doing a custom bumper probably anyways and I'd likely incorporate this into it once I had the unit in hand. I need to fit an intercooler, etc in there as well so some modification might be needed.

Oh, funny thing you mentioned it, that plate frame never came with the kit. I got that seperate from boys company's he just started. When the show n go is initially purchased, its bare so don't worry no annoying logos or anything to worry about. There aren't any logos or anything showing on the blank frame which is great you just screw on your plates or plates with a frame and you're good to go. The quality is very good, very sturdy and not flimsy at all. Definitely wanna see how this will be done on the G bumper, can't wait! Going boost I see ::, nice!

Thanks for the responses guys. Seems these range from $130-180 for the motorized versions, I guess that's justifyible. Wish they had a slightly cheaper one without the Key Fabs, that's silly, I'll just wire them up for key-on flip out with an auxillary switch.

I'm also curious about something else for these CJ, you will be able to help this question, slight OT of course. What about mounting a Monitor to one of these for the interior?
