ValveBody Upgrade on 2002?

I have just received confirmation from Don that the VB mod can be done on my 2002. What kind of gains would I get? I take it, it is worth the $450.00.

You don't "use" a link.

You "click" on a link.

I "clicked" and am a little wiser now. I read the testimonials, but is the VB mod really "all that"? It sounds good.

On the 4th gen it was REALLY quick and firm. On my 5th gen, it wasn't as quick and firm (the shifts)... the solenoid/TCM might be the culprit.

The VB upgrade should make your tranny last longer ...

And I haven't heard one bad thing about Don's VB yet. Other than: "Stop that! You're driving too quickly!"

One more thing to add to clee's comment... it will void your Nissan tranny warranty if they know you have it.

You can probably drive to Don's place and have him work on the VB (uninstall and install) on the same day. Email him and see what he says. I'm sure you can be the 2002 guinea pig... I was it for the 2k-2k1.

You're welcome.

/// Valve Body Modification

The recent buzz that one Maxima owner has created lately is making a fairly inexpensive product that will lengthen the life of the auto tranny. (To a certain extent.) Don Cooper, a Texan Maxima Enthusiast has done some homework and came up with a suburb valve body. What is the Valve Body (VB)? Well it's part of the auto tranny that helps engage the different gearing of the auto tranny. By swapping some springs internally to a higher load rating, Don has been able to come up with a slick mod.

The Max comes from the factory with a "luxury" car mind, so the car will shift smoothly (but slowly) through the gears. Which makes acceleration a drag. Don's VB eliminates the shift-lag, thus creating crisper (and harsher) gear engagements. This will, believe it or not, lengthen the life of the tranny. Why? Well normally, you would stomp on the gas and rev it, the car, as it's trying to change the gearing, might pause, due to the shift-lag, and while you're on the gas still, might not engage properly, and thus frying parts of the tranny while your at it. So, if the car can shift sooner, no lag, and will reduce the chances of slippage.

Level 10, a world-renoun transmission specialist offers the Valve Body modification also. But might be a tad more expensive than Don's $450 price

from Cheston.
