Hello, I am having an issue with my driver side HID lamp. It comes on only after turning my head lights on and off repeatedly. I removed the whole unit and found that there is an electrical box. Does anyone know if this is normal for an HID bulb before it burns out? Could I have a short in that box unit? If it is the box unit that is going out, what is the cost of a replacement? thanks.

 

That box is the ballast...and yes it sounds like the ballast is bad
