ok i have a 2001 infiniti i30 with 22" rims on spring spacers
long story short
blew a rear strut and sick of the thought of having spacers in my springs
so here it goes

iv decided i like and want to keep 22s pn my car
originally i bought these rims ata a pawn shop n had no idea the offset so i just slapped em on
or rent n roll in bradenton, FL
did using spring spacers
charged me $300
but anyway i was happy so i rode it for a while
well...
its time to do things right
car has 201,000 miles on it
and yes im keeping it till it perishes.
already had front shocks replaced with tokico blues about 7,000 miles ago
tire kingdom did that and they just put the spacers right back in
so right now my car is on stock springs stock rear struts and front tolicko blue struts all will spring spacerz enabling the 22s
.
i bought illuminas to replace rear stock struts along with new strut boots and strut mounts but wen i went to get them installed they advised my springs arent doing their job beacuse of the spacers and it would be pointless to fix my blown rear shock if im not gona make the suspension right when i do (IE no more spring blocks)

well i know my options sorta
custom lift (500-3000$) depending on whats done who does it too much $
air ride (2000-3000) too much imo
coilovers--(only lowers car wont help)
universalliftkits 2" universal fwd lift kit? ($129) after shipping
but i dont know if my car will look dumb sitting 2" above 22"
right now it sits right Above them
and also will this give me room between top of tire and bottom or strut?( i dony think so iv been told by universals people that it will give 2" of space between car body and strut top also includes new strut bolts and stock strut bolts must be pressed out?

either way i took pics and will take more wen i get car on lift or crawl under it but basically i want to put as little $ and mod as i can into my i30 while still being able to ride 22s
(im shopping for 22s with the right offset that oughta help and also more narrow rims i think mine are 22x9
or 22x9.5)
i know the ride quality isnt gona be good on 22s or small tires no matter what ( i like a 30 series tire no bigger)
but what would be the best cheapest thing to do to my 2001 i30 to get it rollin again

6. paste what you copied
7. rinse, and repeat for more images

 

that's a lot of work all surrounding around the notion of just keeping the same wheels. why don't you look for better fitting wheels like 22"x8 or 21" and avoid all these issues?

and yes it will look bad 2" above the already tall 22" wheels but for $129 that universal lift kit sounds like the cheapest solution to your problems and seems you already have figured that out.

are you sure coilovers don't have the ability to go higher than stock heights?

btw unless yours are bad you don't really need to replace the rear strut mounts, they don't usually go bad, that rule of thumb is for the front

 

i dont understand why you're having issues w/ 22s...there's a guy i know w/ a 02-03 max that has 22s on it, he has it lowered w/ no issues...yours must protrude like ****

Alright man, here's some down to earth info.

1. We're not haters. We're all here for one reason. Appreciation for the Maxima and modifying it. That is all encompassing of ALL modification styles- sleeper, classy, JDM, VIP, poke/tuck/stretch, etc. BIG wheels included.

2. That being said, as a veteran of this forum I can say with full confidence that we all believe things should be done right and properly.

3. The reality is that unfortunately you made a mistake. We found comedy in it because your mod is certainly on the...extreme...end of standard mods.

4. Even without seeing the car, we're certain that the offset of your 'steal of a price' wheels is way off. The wheels are simply not the right measurement for your car.

5. Options- get rid of them and do it RIGHT this time. Sell em off to someone that will take them - or back to the shop. Maybe you'll take a loss for them, but that's ok because we all wasted money before we researched. We lived and learned. Then, get appropriate wheels. They can be big, but at least make sure theyre the right size and appropriately offset. Your other alternative is to deal with it, roll fenders, keep getting struts, etc etc.

Keep asking questions. But it's best to ask before you act, so we can help prevent this type of honest mistake in the future.

you won't need a custom lift or any lift at all for 22's on that car. sell your current rims and get 22x8/22x8.5 with the correct offset(+35 or higher) and 235/30/22 tires. They will bolt right on with no suspension work needed. only thing you might need to do is roll the fenders.

 

22" rims on a Maxima/i30 looks RETARDED. Nothing more needs to be added. Go into a corner and think about what you've done to that poor car.

 

you spend that kind of money..i'm guessing at the least 5-700 but you didnt check the size...you thought they were 20s but they were 22s...the diameter is the easiest thing to find out on the tire, but you didnt deem it responsible enough with your money to find out. you deserve it fukin up your car right now. next time do research on the wheels like you should on this forum before posting up idiotic threads

 

nothing wrong w/ 22s on a max/i30, it can look nice if he did enough research on teh wheel to get it to fit right
