From what I've heard, the 5.5 gen headlamps are slightly larger than the 00 and 01's. Plus, the 5.5's were designed to work with OEM HID lights. The 5th gen bulbs (H4 Halogen) might not fit correctly in the socket. 5.5's are intended for a specific HID bulb. I don't think you'll damage anything unless you try to force the headlamps to fit. Also, I'm not sure if there's a way to get around this, but the turn signal and parking lights are split into two different sockets (as opposed to the 5th gen which uses 1 bulb per side).

If you were closer I could do it. Not too hard to do if you're good with cutting/splicing.

I followed that write up. It worked like a charm but itīs a PITA because you need to mess with the wiring and if you don't get a basic knowledge in electrical systems just DONīT DO IT by yourself!

In the first attempt I blow out the fuse of the left headlight

I second this. More than anything, having an extra set of hands for heat shrinking the wiring was helpful for me. See my sig for installed look on an AE. Also, don't forget about the mounting clips that are different for the 5.5 HID housings.
