Summit Racing Turbo Mufflers

Hey Guys,

Back in the day I owned a 1994 Taurus SHO. I loved that car and the Maxima reminds me of a better built version of that car. Similar personality, and now that I've opened up the intake I can hear the secondary intake come alive at around 4,000rpm just like my old SHO.

Well also back in the day I put a pair of Summit Racing turbo mufflers on my SHO and I really liked them. They were inexpensive and quiet at cruise but really opened up when you got on the throttle.

I find my Maxima is still a bit too quiet. I don't want anything loud really, but I do like the way the G35 coupe's sounded from the factory and I'd like my Maxima to sound similar.

So...does anyone run Summit Racing turbo mufflers on their Maxima? If so, how do you like them?

If not...what setup will get me as close to my wish list as possible...for as little as possible.

Thanks!

I've owned two SHO's myself. Too bad aftermarket support for them is practically dead now. Shoshop was the best place for aftermarket, but I believe they're not around anymore.

I'm not aware of anyone running the mufflers you're talking about. Good luck on your quest to find what you're looking for.

Yea it's been about 8 years since I sold my SHO. I really did enjoy driving that car, but you see none of them on the streets around here these days. I mean zero! I think a nice clean low mileage SHO will be worth some money some day...that Yamaha V6 was just fantastic!

I'm thinking this muffler: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-630125/

And a tip like this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-690052/

Might be a cheap and easy way to gain a little sound?

Sounds about what I'm looking for? Stainless steel construction? I'll have to look these up...

Thanks

Thrush makes basically the same exact muffler, and I have them on my truck. It's an older Chevy with a 305 small block with bolt on stuff and headers. I run the dog snot out of it and they definitely don't sound like Flowmasters I've run before. It's a lumpy deep rumble at idle, but, acceleration is rather quiet. IMO it would have been smarter to spend a few more dollars and get something with a fully welded case, from a more reputable company.
