lol at the 'altezza bashing' comments.
Red on the signal portion instead of amber/clear doesn't make them any more or any less 'altezza' style. They've always been like that right from the factory.

didn't take them apart... just removed the bulb and sprayed the can through the opening. It's a PITA - do small sprays in different directions a bunch of times so you don't get runs. I think I waited about 5 mins b/t each spray - on a warm day outside.
I came across these tail lights, I wonder if I could mod my stock one's to look kinda like this.

You will never match that design though, to answer your direct question. You'd only be able to black the outer section out to 'mimik' the overall look.
