'02 Maxima Antenna

Hi. I just bought a used 2002 Maxima GLE from my cousin. He had the windows tinted a few years back - and it seems to have ruined the radio reception (AM and FM antennas are imbedded the back windshield). Being that he lives in San Francisco, and that he usually listens to his iPod, He says never noticed. But now that I have noticed, I have a few questions:

I was reading up that it's possible that the tinting place just forgot to reconnect to the antenna once they reinstalled the back window. How would I be able to check that? I've tooled around in the trunk but I can't seem to find the wire.

If the antenna is connected, is there anyway to get a better signal without removing the tint?

Thanks so much and i look forward to being a Maxima owner (again).

The antenna wires from the window glass plug into an antenna amplifier box that is accessed from inside the car. It is located on the passenger side in the pillar section between the window and the door. Remove the plastic panel to get to it.

You can get a separate antenna module that you can install yourself and hook up anywhere on your dashboard, fairly easy. I don't think it should be too expensive.
