I'd go with Mobil 1 over Royal Purple. I've seen high mileage engines torn down that used Mobil 1 since new and they still looked squeaky clean and even still had visible crosshatching in the cylinder walls.

Theres a post on the 350z forums. I cant find the link atm, but do not use either. In a lab test comparing 10 oils for the vq30 and vq35, the top 3 oils that work the best for Maximas are, 1:Castrol syntec German made 0w30, 2: Ams Oil 5w30 3: Pennzoil Plat 5w30. Mobil 1 came in 5th and RP came in last. Take it for leave it.

You have to find an Amsoil distributor/dealer or get it online.

Royal Purp. I've seen tests in person showing RP is king. I'm using RP in my tranny and VQ35 for the swap. Anyone that disagree is just mad they can't use their food stamps to buy it.

I can't tell if this guy is being serious or not.

Do you have these "tests" to prove that RP is "king?"

I'll leave it. I've been using Mobil 1 in my Max since 80k miles and absolutely no problems so it's been and will continue to the best for me. I'm at 335k now.

To the OP, I've read some not so good things about Royal Purple so I wouldn't trust it.

Thats a damn Royal purple add dude are you serious? and the oil that was in the Camaro could have been 6k miles old and then a change to fresh oil will obviously yiled a few HP. an 8hp difference on a dyno literally means nothing anyway

Syn oil is almost the same all around and conventional oil is basically the same all around.

Read it, learn it, know what makes motor oil motor oil:

That's the test I've seen in person and I was convinced.

An 8hp increase literally means something. Literally it means +8hp, as opposed to figuratively +8hp. Literally you can measure the difference Royal Purp made. It literally added +8hp.

Exxon Mobil Corp. is the largest "U.S." oil company. They mass manufacture oil for large chain distributors like Wal-Mart. You know who else buys their oil at Wal-Mart?..................Soccer moms. Mobil 1 is made as a universal high quality oil. The big difference between oils, the additive package, is designed in Mobil 1 to work in Minivans just as well as it is to work in GT-R's. Pay a few bucks less for universal soccer mom oil and keep pumping money into fat cat CEO's pockets.

March 24, 1989 - EXXON VALDEZ

2008 - Exxon Mobil Corp. reports a profit of $45.2 billion

July 17, 2009 - Exxon Mobil was be fined $1 billion for “malicious” sabotage of wells to prevent other producers from tapping fields it no longer wanted; co plugs abandoned wells with trash, sludge, explosives and cement plugs. Payed off because you sheeps buy their oil. baaaaaaaahhhhhhhh

October 4, 2011 - Exxon Mobil forced to pay more than $1 billion in punitive damages over a 2006 gasoline leak in Maryland that fouled residents’ drinking water. Payed off because you sheeps buy their oil. baaaaaaaahhhhhhhh

Some guys look at where their money is going. Try and find negative press on RP. I'm proud to say RP designs its oil for high performance motors. Not minivans.

I'd go with neither, as my Max will just slurp up the synthetic stuff even faster than dead dino!

can you explain how your engine is so high performance that you need nothing but royal purple.
oh and i gained 15hp by changing my spark plugs. so an 8hp gain from an oil change doesnt mean jack. and haters? seriously? were not haters were just people who dont like you because your an idi*t. and yes i have seen that test in person as well and royal purple wasnt that much better than the others that we used.

I would take that to mean both are nice upgrades. Everything adds up buddy.

^ End discussion. Buy a liter or 2, 1 capful in transmission with oil change, 1/2 cap in engine with oil change.

You can use dino oil with this stuff.

That test shown with every oil imaginable didn't hold up to the cheapest department-store brand recycled oil with 1/2 drop of this stuff in it. It literally doubled the weights.

Seems from what I've seen, that I'm going to switch to the Castrol 0W30 German oil or buy some of this pathfinder lubricant and use that. Although on a stock engine it probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference...

Some of you people are funny to me. Only an oil analysis can tell you which is the "best" for your car. Blackstone Labs is one of them.

This is an argument that has been run to the ground and it's been proven year after year that Amsoil and Mobil 1 are the best syn oils. Castrol GTX is the best dino oil. End of Story.

^This. Though, there's been recent developments showing Mobil's been de-throned by I think pennzoil's synthetic.

Royal Purple is a better lubricant, but not good for a daily driver. Its good for applications requiring frequent fluid changes, ie. race engines.

For any street driven car, Mobil 1 hands down.

My WalMart sells Royal Purple.

I don't touch the stuff though because I'm smart enough not to fall for marketing hype.

Royal Purple....LOL talk about lining somebody's pockets!!

Your Wal-Mart is buying it from a 3rd party. Wal-Mart is not an authorized distributor of Royal Purple and the company (RP)wants it to stop. There are some wholesalers that are selling to a few Wal-Mart stores on the side and RP is trying to put a stop to it. RP themselves told Wal-Mart NO at SEMA! It's even posted in RP's FAQ section on their website.

What Wal-Mart ( ie; town and state ) did you see it at? Any chance you could drop back in and get a batch number off a bottle or two?

You can PM me with the info, post it here, or even e-mail me ( scvrazoray27@gmail.com ). Give me your personl info as well and I will include that in case they want to send any kind of merchandise "thank you". Not trying to take credit for your find.

I wonder if this duck prefers RP or Exxon Mobil....

After my first RP cycle, I'm going to send a sample to Blackstone Labs. I've always wanted to do it.

I was just about to post if you worked or are associated in any way with Royal Purple and clearly you are. All of your opinions are now invalidated. Through independent labs Mobil ! always scores high along with AMS. Royal Purple is marketing and thats it. They put their name out there by paying the TV shows and magazines to use it so all the newbs will buy it thinking it is the best not because it is but just because it is the most expensive. Stop spewing BS when clearly you have a dog in the RP game.

-_- I don't work for RP and am not associated with them in any way (besides being a fanboi who enjoys occasionally trolling internet noobs with sensitive vaginas). How you come to the assumption that I work for RP is a mystery to me.

The majority of my last post was copied and pasted from post #979441 on this forum: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...&Number=979437
I googled "Walmart Royal Purple" to cite my source from RP's FAQ section, which I remembered reading on their website mentioning they do not sell to Wal-Mart. Instead I ended up reading that thread and copied and pasted useful information. If someone here really does see RP at their local Wal-Mart, report it and profit.

I live in Stuart, FL like my profile states and have a few transactions from other members to validate my location. If RP has an office anywhere near Stuart, I'll be shocked lol. But I hope you can trust me. I know you've always had trust issues and it's caused problems in your past relationships. But I'm here to grow with you. Help me help you ShocknAwe.

I wonder what this whale thinks about Exxon Mobil....
