Your kidding right? I've seen tests in person of K&N's performance. Ever hear of the "Million mile warranty"? I hope your Injen filter can get RMA'd when your filter when it takes a dump at 700k.

That was by far the most scientific test I have ever in my life, great find, and a graph with no numbers so the consumer thinks something scores higher than it really does? . Good god dude a high flow air filter compared to a paper? Yea its going to flow better. Did you really just use legit and JDM in the same sentence? What a surprise it has RP in the chart too. Will you please post a picture of your Honda so we can all Ignore list you and be done with it? You benefit from RP sales plane and simple

Higher Air consumption > Less Filtration...and my MAF is pretty near to its enemy...oil...no thank you. I'll stick with my paper filter.

im gone for one day and you kids blow this thread up lol

That being said any air filter thats washable can go a million miles and they say that to make you feel all good inside but i want to see the guy that actually does. K&N makes a nice filter but they have to be oiled constantly to work. If there not oiled right and enough than the suck major *****. Id take a dry filter any day. The only time i use an oiled filter is for my 4wheeler and thats an oiled foam filter because it runs in sand all day.

This shyt PRECISELY.

KnN flows better, but lets more shyt in. Take your pic. If you only care about a 1/2 HP increase, then take the filter out and gain a full HP!!

This thread is why, even after coming here for over 10 years now, I've never seen another forum like Maxima.org anywhere. Lol, any topic can go so far off the rails within just 24 hours it's unreal. As to the OP's original question? If I were looking at 2 different used Maxima's, and one owner had used RP while the other had used Mobil 1, I'd be happy as can be to buy either one, as every private seller I ever talk to seems to think they're doing their cars a favor by taking it to Wal-Mart for a quick oil change every 8000 miles or so.

ive tried both and as an unbiased opinion i will say this; i always change my oil every 3k miles regardles of whether it needs it or not. after 3200 mile i changed the royal purple oil change and (no joke) it came out clear purple like it was just poured out of the bottle. i actually wanted to reuse it. as for the mobil 1 i did thew same thing but with the mobil 1 i noticed that it stays golden brown and the stick never losses it level. i think theyre both really good. ive been doing moble 1 lately because i get it free at work.

im really curious myself to see which oil is the best.

but i really just want to know whats the best for the VQ

Should it really matter what oil you put in your car as long as it is NEW oil?
I think the whole horsepower gaining thing is just simply stating the obvious as a exclusive benefit.

I mean, if your oil is sludge up, burnt, and had been in the car for 20K miles, wouldn't new oil instantly give you a boost in HP? Heck, I think at that point me draining out the old stuff and pissing in my engine would give it a HP boost.

And most of us (or at least I do) follow the 5K oil change routine, so I think it shouldn't matter too much. But if you go double or triple that amount, it is then that I think it matters what you buy.

RP is a joke. That crap is like water and breaks down way to fast.

Want some serious oil? Look here --- http://www.cam2racing.com/products.htm
Our daily drivers don't require that level of protection. The zinc level is the bomb, one of the highest available in motor oils.

Shell Rotella T is another excellent oil with elevated zinc levels. More than what would be needed to protect our VQ's. I run that in my FJR1300, it's recommended by a lot of Sport Touring riders.

My Nissan gets nothing more then Castrol GTX. And at 200K miles, all I can say is that anything else is really just a waste of $$$.

Just so everyone knows. Ferrari is using Pennzoil now. Guess it's time to ditch the RP AND the Mobil 1.

Well, you're wasting your money by using syn and changing it every 3000 miles. The color doesn't say whether your oil is good or bad. Do the research.

I change my oil every 10000 miles and I'm using syn just so I can reduce my oil changes.

Actually that could mean it doesnt clean for crap. You WANT your oil to be dirty because that means the detergents in the oil are working and are cleaning your engine

Once this guy started supporting Royal Purple AND K&N....I lost it. I've never laughed so hard at the realization that everybody just got mega-trolled.

Of course, if he's 100% serious...be nice to him guys. He's one of those "special" kids.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Your wasting perfectly good oil. Give it away to friends instead

Jesus,

Before I clicked on this thread I thought to myself "All of these cars are over 10 years old, who gives a **** if you use Royal Purple or Mobil 1."

After reading the thread, I feel validated

I used Castrol GTX also. It's cheap. My VQ30 has 160K on it. 99% of the time i drive 70mph. What the hell is the point of spending loads on some gimmicky oil.

an old engine is just more reason to run better oil.

I get the point you guys are using here, but Preventative maintenance is preventative maintenance, it doesn't matter if its your lawnmower or your Ferarri.
