2k2 stock ypipe.....

i was underneith a 2k2 checking out the exhaust and noticed the ypipe was freeflowing , no sharp bends . and no cat to remove. cali spec. also the pre cats are built inside both the exaust manifolds.so don't bother buying a ypipe because it wouldn't improve the flow. nissan did a really nice job! check it out.......2k2 auto

But these 2k2 peoples keep beefing about how they want one and NEEEEEEEEED one.

I guess then maybe what they really need is exhaust manifolds.

No offense to the 2k2 peoples, but I really dont want that car to be too mod-able, such as ypipe, udp, supercharger,...... cause then it will STILL be faster than a 2k-2k1 with all those mods also. If they cant mod, then a 2k-2k1 will be at the same level or more HP. Which will make me feel better since I got jipped and did not wait 1.5months more before I bought my freagin 2k1 max. Yeah just a hint of bitterness you are hearing

Look at the bright side! You own a NISSAN MAXIMA!

Tru dat bro. But I still want to be as fast as a 2k2 even with all the mods out there for both cars.

But still I hear the 2k2 3.5se engine just does not too mod-able. I mean where is the S/C going to fit when or if they make one? Since a Ypipe wont do jack for it, so you would then need new manifolds. That is gonna be expensive. I know UR is planning on releasing their UDP on it, I think they said or I heard it was going to be the same one as the one for the 2000 and 2001. Besides that, I dont know what else performance mods, I mean exhaust system, but have not seen or heard of the stock one having too many issues with backpressure or bottlenecking in the pipes.

Interesting. I never looked at mine because I wouldn't know what I was comparing it to, but now it make sense why Stillen started talking about doing a system which included headers instead of just a Y-pipe, - that's probably the only way they'll get a measureable power increase.

Btw, thanks for sending me those photo's of your ride! Now that i see a real comparison that does seem like a good drop. I can't tell however, was it an even front-back drop?

I got in on the Group deal for $85 on the Maxspeed springs, shipping was around $16.

As for me, i think i'll settle with a good suspension mod and perhaps a HAI or CAI. It's not like i can drive fast anywhere here anyway (e.g. too much traffic and i'd hate to go to the track by myself)

Hogan (Yo_its_ok) is already partway through supercharging his as I understand it. He said it's really simple and obvious where to put the supercharger, just not normally where you put it. I'm looking forward to supercharging my 2002 in the future. My target is around 350-375HP with as little boost as possible (no N20 either). I figure if I do a port/polish/etc job on the heads and some moderate boost I should get there.

Hey man....just take into account the fact that you will most likely never run into a modded 2K2 unless you know these guys. It's gotta be a tiny percentage of maxima owners that actually have mods. I don't know anyone besides the people on here that have mods on theirs. I'm sure if I met up with some people from the org I'll find a maxima faster than mine, but on the street and at the track, I still haven't met my match.

Even though I own a 2K1, I'm watching the aftermarket for the 2K2. I'm watching Cattman and Stillen especially, but right now there is little or nothing available for the 2K2. But what really worries me is Nismo. If they bring a sh**load of stuff for the 2K2 to the US market then us 2k-2k1 owners better watch out.

When would the NISMO stuff be out?

I don't pick on other Maximas. In fact, seldom do I race another Nissan. I do have a disliking for VW, Honda, Acura though

i dont mean to burst anyones bubble, but personally, i'm skeptical about what NisMo will offer for us Maxima owners. If anything i think they will offer basic bolt ons, but i dont think much boostwise, hopefully an ECU, but other than that i dont think NisMo will offer us much. Now for the Sentra SE-R SpecV im pretty sure will get loads of stuff along with the upcoming 350Z. If anyone has more first hand word on this and if im assuming wrong then i stand corrected. i'm not trying to tell anyone that their wrong i just dont think we, maxima owners, shouldnt get too excited. But again this is all speculation on my part, so if anyone has more accurate info.

if NISMO can do things for the 350Z, then perhaps the 2k2 max owners may also get lucky....

but I guess we will see in due time what NISMO has in store

That should be cake. I want to see 400hp at the crank you 2K2 guys. No slacking.

I thought Hogan was done with all that stuff since he was talking about how his life changed and he was moving over to CALI.

Unless I mis-understood something. How or Where is gonna place the supercharger or turbo? Seems like no room with the new 3.5 Engine

Well there has to be something else needed to be modded. If a 3.2 acura can make 260 hp stock then a NISSAN 3.5 should be able to make easily over that. More displacement more HP right. I just don't see Nissan making the Maxiam that smooth flowing and only getting 255 (or less compared to dynos) and mad torque at the stock stage. Given time we will know more about the 2002 Max.

May be VTech is more efficient than VVTI, and whatever Nissan has?
I hope they will get their act together to make cars that performance better, transmission that are more efficient, and better fuel economy

Add the Altima to that list as well since the current Max is being factored out and the 2.5 and
3.5 Altima is on it's way in!
