P1102 code, but not sure if that's the problem need help!

P1102 code, but not sure if that's the problem need help!
2002 SE, Auto tranny.
Turned the engine on, noticed that the SES light was on.
Noticed several issues right away:
1. Very rough idle, and with the revs dropping way down, the engine actually shut itself off once.
2. Difficulty changing gears unless I totally baby the throttle. Engine stutters pretty bad especially from the 2-3 gear shift (auto).
Autozone pulled the P1102 which they said was a Mass Air Flow sensor issue. Hard to believe that's causing these issues, any input??
