Any interest in Raceland Coilovers?

Hi y'all... So here's the story... I dunno how many of you have seen the Raceland Coilover ads in the magazines. Of course I was doubtful of the quality of $300.00 coilovers, but I read some reviews and said "what the hell". Well, since they're not offered in their catalog, I wrote to them and asked if there were any plans of manufacturing a set for 5th/5.5 Maximas... Their first response was a "no", but I wrote them back and asked if they would reconsider if there were enough interest. The org is pretty large if we poole together. Now, I dunno what you all think, but for a set of semi-decent coilovers at a really low price, what do you guys think? I figure that if there's enough of us interested, we could either put together a list, orrrr... just everyone e-mail them and tell them you're with the org and see if we can spark enough interest. Now please, I'm not trying to discredit any of the awesome coilover manufacturers that are out there that are already good to us. I just personally don't have a grand layin around to get those yet, maybe in the future, but for now, I don't see why we couldn't opt for a decent, affordable set. Of course, like I said, I also don't know what anyone else gas heard about these...

someone draft up a letter and we should start emailing, i was all into the raceland coilovers when i had my MK4 jetta, ive heard many good reviews from raceland, they are for the person looking to get a better stance and some handling nothing crazy though, if your slammed and track them then they wont hold up. but i think for most of us on the org they are good enough.

Yeah, I'm all street, so I would definitely hold out for BC's if I was gonna do track. So you think everyone should just e-mail independently? I think we need to make sure to tell them that we're lookin specifically for 2000-2003...

Amongst the audi/vw scene they're pretty common and have decent reviews.

The geometries are very similar, except for the lower mounting holes, all the 4th genners that are interested should do the same. I don't think they'll refuse if there's enough interest. They didn't give me a magic number that would be considered "enough interest", but I'm sure that if they get flooded with e-mails, they can't ignore us! start e-mailing people!

I hope you guys realize that raceland coilovers are not fully built coilovers like D2s, Teins, MRs, BC, Ksports...I helped installed these on a MK4, MK5, and MK6 Jetta; the fronts are coilovers but the rears are a spring that has a cap that you twist to tighten lol. I mean I'm down to sign the letter but they would have to re design the coilovers and I don't see it being anything close to 300...Again don't want to knock this just putting my input in; but more then happy to sign.

Well, obviously nobody wants to pay for a piece of junk, that's part of the reason I was asking; however, I did notice in their online catalog that some sets are built different than others. They actually make a set for the 240, and they didn't look too bad...

Ok, so I Re-visited my old original e-mail.. here's a pasted copy:
and Cody from Raceland said that everyone should e-mail them independently...

We would need to a consistent interest so if you have people you know who are interested, please have them shoot us an e-mail.

Thank you for your reply. Would you need some kind of overwhelming demand, or would you decide to do it if there were a minimum of interested parties? If your curiosity is peaked, please feel free to post a "feeler" on www.maxima.org. I bet you would get plenty of interest, especially if you offered some sort of group buy price. Several manufacturers have done that in the past. Of course, you wouldn't begin manufacture until all of the agreed had paid up... Just sayin'. Thanks again!

Lito.

Comment: Hello,
Are you planning on having any offerings for the 4th and 5th generation maxima's?
I am very interested in trying out your coilovers and I'm sure that many of the guys in our club who wish they could afford coilovers would also be interested.
Thank you,

Lito

This seems like a long shot. By the time they R&D This, produce it, and distribute it, half of our cars will probably be in the junkyard. Whats wrong with ground control coilovers, they are probably about the same quality, $310, and they already exist...

Compared to vw/audi our setups are pretty basic. So i doubt they'd have trouble designing a set. The down side is raceland coilovers are cheap and are meant for hellaflush and not actually increasing handling a great deal.

dude your so funny, i dunno if you realize what you said? the reason the rear is a separate spring and shock is because VOLKSWAGEN DESIGNED THE CAR THAT WAY, not raceland designed the spring that way, they did that because those cars don't have a strut-spring combo in the rear. too funny man, too funny.

maximas have a strut-spring 1 piece unit in the rear so were good.

Uh no **** Sherlock. I said it..because I realized that after hm the second Jetta I did? An I realize they have a 1 piece that's why I stated there different..genius. Cost more to make a coilover then a spring; so basically you'd be asking them to make Megan coilovers that's what they'd be priced at and that's the quality you'd have

An thanks for giving me a lesson on the one piece; must of installed my D2s blind.

Just buy illuminas and a set of springs. Maximas look ****ty slammed to the ground anyway. Go buy a Nissan Hardbody if you want to ride 1/4" off the pavement.
